VI Annual Homenaje al Agua (Tribute to Water) Supports the Victims of the Cold Wave

More than 22 artists from 8 countries are joining together to pay tribute to water and create awareness for the conservation of this vital resource. The works included in this tribute - the subjects of which are directly related to water - will be exhibited from December 14 through February 10, 2011, in the Galleria Café Libro at Park and Carrera 93. and will form part of an auction attended by collectors, art dealers, and notables from around the world. All proceeds will be donated to the victims of the cold wave.

Wyspa Institute of Art – Alternativa Contemporary Visual Arts Festival 2010-2012

It is dark. It is cold. And it is late. In the critical space of the Gdansk Shipyard, Alternativa Contemporary Visual Arts Festival 2010-2012 – a new project by Wyspa Institute of Art – commences its two-year journey.
Alternativa will launch its programme of exhibitions at the end of May 2011 and the programme will culminate in June-September 2012.
Alternativa Housewarming, planned for December 3-5, is a three-day pilot that publicly unveils Hall 90B, an industrial building across the street from Wyspa which will be a key location for Alternativa exhibitions and events in 2011-12.

DESIGNTIDE TOKYO 2010

For the first exhibition of “eda”, Emmanuelle Moureaux designed an installation using 2000 pieces (eda). 900 colorful “eda” (suspended type) and 1100 white “eda” (standing alone type) composed and structured the space.

Called eda, which means ‘branch’ in Japanese, the space has been filled with clusters of 200 overlapping coloured branching sticks. The coloured branches are suspended from the ceiling, whilst the white ones stand on the floor.

Galleria Nove and Werkstattgallery show in a new collaboration for the first time in Berlin works by Italian artist Giovanni Manfredini. The solo exhibition titled “Piaghe e Gloria”, will open on Friday, November 12th and lasts until 23rd December 2010.

Giovanni Manfredini was born in 1963 in Modena. At the age of two years he suffered severe burns. After several painful skin grafts, which should renew and replace his own skin, the suffering became unbearable and he was no longer willing to undergo further operations. This molting process, which had originated from fire, Manfredini transfers onto the surface of his paintings.
