A homage to Björk at Gucci Garden
Unveiling the new period rooms – spaces dedicated to transient displays of different artists and themes – inside the Gucci Garden Galleria in Florence. Curated by critic Maria Luisa Frisa, the inaugural exhibit is dedicated to the collaboration between singer and songwriter Björk and Alessandro Michele.

The exhibition focuses on the special gown designed by Gucci’s creative director worn by Björk in her music video for ‘The Gate’ (2017), the first single from album ‘Utopia’. Cut from meters of shimmering iridescent fabrics including finely pleated PVC, lurex organza and crêpe de chine, the design took approximately 550 hours to create and an additional 320 hours for the intricate embroidery work.

Also on display are masks by artist and embroiderer James Merry, worn by the Icelandic singer and songwriter. Books and magazines about Björk – including the catalogue published for the 2015 exhibition for the artist by MoMA, are featured in Gucci Garden’s boutique.
