From November 15 to November 19, 2017

The Arab Fashion Week since its first edition has received its recognition as one of the world’s highest profile designers showcase alongside to the other four big fashion weeks held in New York (NYFW), London (LFW), Milan (MFW) & Paris (PFW) being officially on the international calendar. In addition, AFW is the only official fashion week in the world for promoting the Ready-Couture and Pre-Collections which defines the international industry scene of luxury fashion in Dubai and the Arab World.

This edition of AFW will be organized by the world’s largest non-profit fashion council, ARAB FASHION COUNCIL (AFC), founded in London under the companies acts 2006, incorporation number 09227268 with the activity of an extraterritorial international authority for the Arab countries members of the Arab League, in partnership with Sheikh Mohammed Maktoum Juma AlMaktoum Investment (MBM, visit their website by clicking here) and MERAAS, a leading Dubai-based holding company (Visit MERAAS website by clicking here).

This season will be held at City Walk, a city within a city, developed by MERAAS that seamlessly combines living, shopping, entertainment, hospitality and wellness options within one unique destination. The destination is home to over 300 local and global brands comprising luxury, contemporary, high street fashion brands, F&B, jewellery and watches, leisure and entertainment and much more. The five-day event will take place from 15-19 November and is expected to attract a huge number of visitors and participants including industry VIP and celebrity guests flying in from all over the world for the occasion.  With over 25 regional and international designers showcasing their latest creations every season, Arab Fashion Week is the first and only platform in the world dedicated to promoting Pre-collections and Ready-Couture.

The exhibition The Language of Fashion at the Museum für Kunst und Gewerbe Hamburg (MK&G) sheds light on the significance of text for fashion products. The items on view are variously emblazoned with brand names or logos, political messages, typography or plays on words. All objects on display come from MK&G’s own fashion collection, including more than 35 items from the 19th century until today by established designers such as Walter Van Beirendonck, Coco Chanel, Jean-Charles de Castelbajac, Jean-Paul Gaultier, Tom Ford, Karl Lagerfeld, Martin Margiela and up-and-coming young designers such as Edda Gimnes and Flora Miranda Seierl.
