INTERVIEW: SOHA JEONG KYOUNG-MEE

Interviews | August 27, 2020

I originally majored in business administration at university and started working on art relatively late while working in an international company. During my initiation to ceramics, I studied ceramics and glass at the Department of Art Fusion Design at Kyunghee University Graduate School. I am currently working on art that expresses the energy from nature at SOHA Art Studio. The starting point of my work is observation of nature, and to express the beauty of nature as the beauty of art by continuously and simply exploring the form observed in natural objects. Irregular patterns observed in nature can be expressed in simplified forms, or emphasis on spatial composition. Some have a shape, but some express a certain volume pure and simple, such as embodying the energy of nature with a sense of volume. The works "Shingal Lake" and "Forest" can be said to be pictorial landscape painting and glass sculptures rather than simple objects made of glass crafts. For these pieces, I took photo images and then printed them digitally to use as the background surface to create its glass plates. Read more
