I was born in Kolkata and studied at RKSS Vidyalaya and later at Scottish Church collegiate school in Kolkata. I was seven years old when I took my first art lesson at the primary school level. After school I pursued science in Bangabashi college. Later I got admission in the Government College of Art and Craft, Kolkata. And graduated from there in visual arts. Since then I have been practicing art and exhibiting my art works since 1980. Presently I am experimenting with visual arts. Since my artistic career, nurturing environment and human and their inner beauty reflected in my art works. My recent works have an appeal and possess a flavour of my psychological reflection. The silhouette images or the forms are the language of my paintings which paradoxically reflect my spontaneous expressions. The firm contour gives a special effect and strength to their presentation. As a medium, acrylic is one of my favourites, it gives a translucent effect and creates a vivid texture whether on canvas or paper. Read more

The pace of modern life accelerates more every day. Most people live in stressful "passing by" without taking the time to appreciate the beauty around us. With my art, I want to give the viewer a moment of mindfulness, a rest, of awareness how beautiful life and nature world are. Reading Calvino today raises a fundamental question: can fashion, given its nature as a cultural industry, as a system of communication, as a rich, hybrid and problematic territory, be considered a scientific and poetic practice, and therefore a naturally literary one? So the exhibition uses Calvino’s words as devices to reflect on what has changed and what has stayed the same in fashion. Memos also evokes the legendary typewritten notes Diana Vreeland used to make when she was editor of the American edition of Vogue. Read more
