Eyewear In Harmony With Nature

Aterema is much more than eyewear: Aterema expresses freedom, uncontaminated nature, open spaces, clean air, peace, silence, relax. A call to be carefree and an escape from the speed of modern life. From the heart of the Dolomites! Lightness and comfort, Italian craftsmanship and new technologies, eco-sustainability, and love for nature blend together to create glasses with a unique and exclusive style. How many times have you dreamed of fleeing far away, escaping to the top of a mountain, hiding in the depths of a forest? Dress up Aterema and get ready for the trip!

Aterema is a journey, an escape from the routine to transport and project oneself into open spaces. Being in contact with nature, in a larch forest among the colors of autumn… or immersed in the white of the snow. Freedom is being on the top of a mountain or sitting on the banks of an alpine lake. Aterema is born for those who dream of feeling free, every day.

WHO WE ARE
CLAUDIO SACCO PROILA Co-founder “I love doing my job in the quiet of my country in the mountains, surrounded by breathtaking views.” SARA PFEIFHOFER Co-founder “I love the mountains and I love to apply myself between modernity and new technologies: you can be innovative even away from big cities!”

Aterema has born in the heart of the Dolomites, in the province of Belluno, in North Italy. We are passionate about the mountains and we chose to stay and live here. We believe that technological innovation can be done also living in locations away from the frenzy of large urban centers. Mountain is no longer a margin but becomes a fulcrum for an eco-sustainable life.

“NATURA” COLLECTION
The Aterema eyewear from the “NATURA” collection is born from a powder. Aterema produces small series and limited editions: it creates an exclusive product, unique and refined. The eyewear has a particular surface finish, which becomes the characteristic that enhances the model. The roughness of the surface of the glasses recalls the graininess of the Dolomia stone, smooth in the most trodden paths, rough in the less known and wild rocks.

EYEWEAR THAT RESPECTS OF THE ENVIRONMENT
The frames are made starting from a powder that is recycled in the model manufacturing process. The creation of the fronts, temples, and small parts for assembling glasses does not generate waste in the production system. The eyewear case in which they are contained is made of recycled leather from processing waste. They are designed using 3D Computer-Aided Design (CAD) technology. They are made by additive manufacturing, the material used is sintered polyamide. The advantages of 3D printing technology are the freedom of shapes, zero plastic processing residues, the possibility of creating small series. Furthermore, the product is hypoallergenic and nickel-free as it does not have any type of small metal parts. One of the strengths of our 3D printed glasses is their lightness: the total weight of the glasses varies between 16.5 grams (in the lightest model) and 30 grams, lenses included. Very light but also resistant in their structure.

“STELLE” COLLECTION
The Aterema sunglasses from the “STELLE” collection are made of bio acetate Mazzucchelli M49, a bioplastic composed of cellulose acetate and a component of vegetable origin. These materials derive from renewable sources. Cellulose is a natural polymer and in the M49 type, there is a natural plasticizer of vegetable origin that replaces the old version obtained by chemical synthesis M49 is bio-based and biodegradable.
