BARE CONSCIOUSNESS BY CECILE LOBERT
May 13 – June 03, 2022
Palazzo Bembo – Venice Grand Canal
ITSLIQUID Group, in collaboration with EGO’ Boutique Hotel, is pleased to announce the opening of BARE CONSCIOUSNESS, a solo exhibition of Cecile Lobert, that will be held in Venice, at Palazzo Bembo – Venice Grand Canal during CONSCIOUSNESS, second appointment of ANIMA MUNDI 2022, from May 13 to June 03, 2022. The opening will be on May 13, 2022, from 04 PM (book here your ticket – free entry).
Lobert’s work will feature ten paintings from her Bare Consciousness series, which provides a unique snapshot into her everyday, existential experiences. The paintings document the silent and persistent dialogue between Lobert’s internal soul and the external stimuli of her physical and emotional environments resulting in a raw and unfiltered glimpse at consciousness laid bare. An outsider to societal imprints and to the ability to devise, strategize, or premeditate, her art arrives from a pure and unadulterated space of the absolute present, offering a window into a human consciousness physiologically free from what is considered normative. Challenging us to empathize with our own “bare consciousness” or inherent “true self,” untouched by individual history, social, educational, or cultural upbringing, Lobert highlights who we may truly be without the conditioning we continuously undergo.
Cecile Lobert was born in Brussels, Belgium on the 23rd of April 1992, Lobert addresses consciousness in its raw form. Her compositions establish a style perhaps best-known for its emancipation from traditional outlooks and references, offering deeply felt compositions from a rarefied place – traversing the chasm wrought by the void of language and social instruction. Where artists work at tearing down social preconceptions, Lobert knows nothing other than this existential space so sought-after and dissects reality as we see it, to offer a version of consciousness free from set norms, perceptions, and prejudices. Daughter to Olga Rodovni, a Bolshoi opera vocal coach and to Belgian ambassador, legal scholar, theologian and philanthropist, Henry Lobert; she spent her youth in the United Arab Emirates, France, and Libya. Her first acrylic composition was a commission by her sister in 2014, who had observed over years Lobert’s disposition to drawing. Lobert has exhibited in Dubai, Barcelona, and Madrid.

Palazzo Bembo, located in the historic district of San Marco, the heart of Venice, is available to host solo shows and group exhibitions of the most talented emerging and established artists, designers, and architects selected by our professional team among the numerous show participation requests.
Palazzo Bembo is one of the late Gothic Venetian buildings built in the right middle of the famous Canal Grande, a few meters from the renowned Rialto Bridge. Its name comes from the humanist and literary cardinal Pietro Bembo, known for the so-called “linguistic question” during the Italian XV century.
The facade of the building, with all its gothic pentafore, is as fascinating as the interior which is divided into three floors and characterized by large salons. The seventeenth-century staircase overlooks the internal courtyard that leads to the noble floor, where decorations are dating back to the same century, in Baroque style. The exhibition space, on the first floor, overlooks the Canal Grande and the Rialto Bridge, giving a suggestive view both day and night.
