ANIMA MUNDI is the vital energy that flows through everything, the subtle force that connects all forms of existence, from the natural to the artificial, from the visible to the invisible. It is the living pulse of the world, the rhythm that sustains transformation, coexistence, and renewal. Plato expressed his thoughts about ANIMA MUNDI in the Timaeus, describing the universe – “this world is indeed a living being endowed with a soul and intelligence… a single visible living entity containing all other living entities, which by their nature are all related”.
Today, this ancient vision returns with renewed urgency: ANIMA MUNDI is not just a metaphysical idea, but an intuitive recognition of the invisible energy that flows through every form, natural or artificial, allowing the planet to live, evolve, and transform. It is the hidden network that sustains ecosystems, connects human and non-human entities, and balances life across time and matter.
How does this universal energy manifest itself today? We invite artists, designers, and architects to take part in a collective exploration of ANIMA MUNDI, investigating the subtle correspondences between soul and body, humanity and nature, organic and synthetic worlds, wild landscapes, and urban architectures.
We call artists to share their reflections on the many ways ANIMA MUNDI shapes the connections among all living entities and our natural and cultural systems. All forms of artistic expression are welcome: photography, painting, sculpture and installation, design and architecture, video art, performance, as well as cross-disciplinary approaches, bringing forward personal visions, experiences, and narratives that reveal the essence of our collective soul.

OUR LOCATION

Palazzo Albrizzi-Capello is one of the most known palaces of the Renaissance in Venice. It is a historical building dating back to the 16th century, and it has been owned by several noble Venetian families, as demonstrated by the frescoed ceilings, the artistic stuccos and the fine furniture that enriches its rooms. The Palace welcomes visitors with its beautiful private garden on the ground floor, and then it gathers the guests in its large first-floor salons, in which past and present dialogue together. The restored Old Masters’ frescoes and the contemporary art masterpieces that are periodically shown in the exhibitions hosted here, make Palazzo Albrizzi-Capello the perfect location for the balance between old and new, between ancient environment and contemporary art, architecture and design.
Today the building is managed by ACIT Venice – the Italian-German Cultural Association – which is considered one of the most important intercultural associations in Europe. Thanks to the ACIT unceasing cultural activity, Palazzo Albrizzi-Capello has nowadays frequent collaborations with the Goethe Institute and with other local and international institutions, maintaining its ancient reputation. Because of these relations, it presents a huge program of memorable art exhibitions, conferences, congresses and concerts. Among the last institutional exhibitions, is its participation in the 58th Venice Biennale with the Guatemala pavilion, the Dominican Republic pavilion and the Grenada pavilion. ITSLIQUID Group already had the pleasure to hold some festivals and exhibitions in Palazzo Albrizzi-Capello, such as MORPHOS Festival and FUTURE IDENTITIES Festival, both in 2014.
