CANVAS INTERNATIONAL ART FAIR 2023 – BODYSPACES

ITSLIQUID Group, in collaboration with ACIT Venice – Italian-German Cultural Association, is pleased to announce the open call for BODYSPACES, first appointment of CANVAS INTERNATIONAL ART FAIR 2023, that will take place in Venice, during the period of Venice Carnival, at Palazzo Albrizzi-Capello (click here to learn more on this venue) from January 27 to February 20, 2023.

CANVAS is an International Art Fair that will present collective and solo projects by leading and emerging international artists. The 2023 edition will represent a forum for the direct exchange of ideas and contacts between collectors, artists, photographers, designers and art professionals. The art fair features paintings, sculptures, photography, installations, video art and live performance.

The word “canvas” was used for the first time in Italy in the 14th century and it has become the most common support medium for oil painting, replacing wooden panels. Over the centuries, the canvas’ meaning has changed, starting from paintings, through photographic and cinematographic film, exploring the human body, to the digital world. Canvas is the creatives’ common ground, on which they can express themselves. We invite all the artists to share their personal artistic research through any kind of media, from painting to sculptures and installation, from photography to video art and live performance.

CANVAS INTERNATIONAL ART FAIR consists of 3 main events: BODYSPACES, MIXING IDENTITIES and VISIONS. We are now selecting artists for:

– BODYSPACES from January 27 to February 20, 2023, at Palazzo Albrizzi-Capello

– MIXING IDENTITIES from March 03 to March 21, 2023, at Palazzo Albrizzi-Capello

– VISIONS from April 07 to April 24, 2023, at Palazzo Albrizzi-Capello

Artists are free to take part in one or more events. To take part in the selection fill the form below

BODYSPACES is about the perception of our body, the first step for the appropriation of our identity. The bodies are the spaces for human experimentation, for the achievement of humanity and its overtaking. The contemporary bodies are composed of corporal and virtual elements influenced by physical and psychical actions. The artistic work on the body’s hybridization will create a new concept of humanity starting any kind of possible life in contemporary multicultural society. We invite artists to express, through their artistic research, the relationship between the body and human life, celebrating the new identities in contemporary times.

The participation includes the following services
– exhibition space dedicated to the artist’s works
– assisting with customs formalities, international shipping and local transport
– assisting in finding accommodation
– the design and printing of invitation cards, posters
– the global and local press office, publicity, press, banners, totem, etc.
– the realization of the exhibition website and dedicated press releases
– mounting and dismounting of the exhibition
– exhibitions opening event with drinks and food
– a dedicated interview published on ITSLIQUID website and spread on our social networks
– providing services and drinks for small meetings at the exhibition places for invited guests

Ever since 2001, ITSLIQUID Group has presented a high-quality selection of collective and solo shows in our locations, creating a unique opportunity to exchange new ideas, and increase and develop the art market and the dialogue between collectors, art critics, journalists and art lovers. Making contemporary art accessible to all.

We work in collaboration with a talented network of publishers, dealers, curators and arts professionals, providing artists with customized services and opportunities to have their works exhibited, published and represented through various platforms.

The number of works you can submit is unlimited. Participation in the art show requires an entry fee only for selected artworks. Participation is open to: artists, architects and designers, associate groups and studios.

Artists interested in taking part in our shows are free to be sponsored and supported by institutions, organizations, governments and their representatives; the logos of their sponsors will be included in all the communication (digital and print) of the events.

OUR LOCATION

Palazzo Albrizzi-Capello is one of the most known palaces of the Renaissance in Venice. It is a historical building dating back to the 16th century, and it has been owned by several noble Venetian families, as demonstrated by the frescoed ceilings, the artistic stuccos and the fine furniture that enriches its rooms. The Palace welcomes visitors with its beautiful private garden on the ground floor, and then it gathers the guests in its large first-floor salons, in which past and present dialogue together. The restored Old Masters’ frescoes and the contemporary art masterpieces that are periodically shown in the exhibitions hosted here, make Palazzo Albrizzi-Capello the perfect location for the balance between old and new, between ancient environment and contemporary art, architecture and design.

Today the building is managed by ACIT Venice – the Italian-German Cultural Association – which is considered one of the most important intercultural associations in Europe. Thanks to the ACIT unceasing cultural activity, Palazzo Albrizzi-Capello has nowadays frequent collaborations with the Goethe Institute and with other local and international institutions, maintaining its ancient reputation. Because of these relations, it presents a huge program of memorable art exhibitions, conferences, congresses and concerts. Among the last institutional exhibitions, is its participation in the 58th Venice Biennale with the Guatemala pavilion, the Dominican Republic pavilion and the Grenada pavilion. ITSLIQUID Group already had the pleasure to hold some festivals and exhibitions in Palazzo Albrizzi-Capello, such as MORPHOS Festival and FUTURE IDENTITIES Festival, both in 2014.
