BORDERS ART FAIR 2025 – SECRET SPACES

ITSLIQUID Group, in collaboration with ACIT Venice – Italian-German Cultural Association, is pleased to announce the open call for SECRET SPACES, second appointment of BORDERS ART FAIR 2025, that will take place in Venice at Palazzo Albrizzi-Capello (click here to learn more about this venue) from June 26 to July 10, 2025, and in other prestigious venues and historical buildings, during the same period of the 19th Venice Biennale of Architecture.

The last edition of BORDERS took place in Venice in 2023, presenting a great selection of more than 500 artworks realised by 250 artists from 40 countries. The 2025 edition will provide artists and exhibitors with the unique opportunity to present their works to an international audience of professionals as curators, gallerists, collectors, editors and publishers who seek to acquire, publish and encourage the best contemporary art talents.

Since 2001, ITSLIQUID Group has organized over 350 international events, engaging more than 10,000 artists across over 60 global venues. Its initiatives have featured prestigious museums like the CCCB – Centre de Cultura Contemporània de Barcelona in Spain, the NCCA – National Center for Contemporary Arts in Moscow, the MuMo – Museum Montanelli in Prague, and at the MUST Museum in Lecce, in addition to numerous galleries and private foundations. Thanks to its partnership with Sedition, ITSLIQUID has presented masters such as Bill Viola and Refik Anadol, offering high-level opportunities for young, mid-career, and renowned artists.

The concept of SECRET SPACES explores the hybridization among art, culture, physical and social identities in contemporary times, by providing an immersive experience inside the complex labyrinths of our consciousness: the human body is a changing system that connects us with other bodies and spaces to perceive the surrounding reality, a strong communication system with its own language and infinite ways of expression.

By breaking down traditional boundaries between body and space, individual and collective, artists explore and create new hybrid spaces that challenge their own identity to discover new facets of themselves and push beyond the traditional notions of self and identity.

BORDERS ART FAIR consists of 3 main events: HYBRID IDENTITIES (May/June), SECRET SPACES and FUTURE LANDSCAPES. We are now selecting artists for:

– SECRET SPACES from June 26 to July 10, 2025, at Palazzo Albrizzi-Capello
Deadline for applications is June 13, 2025 (11.59 PM your local time)

– FUTURE LANDSCAPES from July 25 to August 07, 2025, at Palazzo Albrizzi-Capello
Deadline for applications is July 04, 2025 (11.59 PM your local time)

Artists, photographers, video makers, and performers are invited to submit their works. To take part in the selection, send your works’ submissions with a CV/biography, some still images (for video art), links to videos/films/performances and pictures via e-mail to info@itsliquid.com

The participation includes the following services
– exhibition space managed by art professionals
– assisting with customs formalities, international shipping and local transport
– assisting in finding accommodation
– the design and printing of invitation cards, posters
– the global and local press office, publicity, press, banners, totem, etc.
– the realization of the exhibition website and dedicated press releases
– mounting and dismounting of the exhibition
– exhibitions opening event with drinks and food
– a printed catalogue that will include all the participants

ITSLIQUID Group continues to shape international art experiences, building a solid platform to exhibit, grow, and gain visibility within contemporary culture, while supporting and promoting the creative journey of each participant. Our projects are designed to encourage dialogue and experimentation, offering space for both emerging and established talents.

The number of works you can submit is unlimited. Participation in the art show requires an entry fee only for selected artworks. Participation is open to artists, architects and designers, associate groups and studios.

OUR LOCATION

Palazzo Albrizzi-Capello is one of the most known palaces of the Renaissance in Venice. It is a historical building dating back to the 16th century, and it has been owned by several noble Venetian families, as demonstrated by the frescoed ceilings, the artistic stuccos and the fine furniture that enriches its rooms. The Palace welcomes visitors with its beautiful private garden on the ground floor, and then it gathers the guests in its large first-floor salons, in which past and present dialogue together. The restored Old Masters’ frescoes and the contemporary art masterpieces that are periodically shown in the exhibitions hosted here, make Palazzo Albrizzi-Capello the perfect location for the balance between old and new, between ancient environment and contemporary art, architecture and design.

Today the building is managed by ACIT Venice – the Italian-German Cultural Association – which is considered one of the most important intercultural associations in Europe. Thanks to the ACIT unceasing cultural activity, Palazzo Albrizzi-Capello has nowadays frequent collaborations with the Goethe Institute and with other local and international institutions, maintaining its ancient reputation. Because of these relations, it presents a huge program of memorable art exhibitions, conferences, congresses and concerts. Among the last institutional exhibitions, is its participation in the 58th Venice Biennale with the Guatemala pavilion, the Dominican Republic pavilion and the Grenada pavilion. ITSLIQUID Group already had the pleasure to hold some festivals and exhibitions in Palazzo Albrizzi-Capello, such as MORPHOS Festival and FUTURE IDENTITIES Festival, both in 2014.

“Exhibiting in the Palazzo Albrizzi-Capello in Venice felt like entering a space that embraces complexity rather than trying to resolve it. The concept is fluid and alive – it allows for contradiction, tension, and intimacy to exist side by side. It doesn’t ask artists to fit into categories but rather to expand beyond them. It inspired me to lean into the more fragile layers of my work. To trust that discomfort, ambiguity, and silence can be just as powerful as clarity. In a city like Venice, where history and beauty are everywhere, the challenge is to create something that doesn’t just echo the past but interrupts it gently, asks something new, or reveals what usually goes unseen. This exhibition invited me to be honest. Not only in what I show but in why I show it.“
