Canvas Logo 2021

The word “canvas” was used for the first time in Italy in the 14th century and it has become the most common support medium for oil painting, replacing wooden panels. During the centuries, the canvas’ meaning has changed, starting from paintings, throught the photographic and cinematographic film, exploring the human body, to the digital world. Canvas is the creatives’ common ground, on which they can express themselves. We invite all the artists to share their personal artistic research through any kind of media, from painting to sculptures and installation, from photography to videoart and live performance.

The concept of MIXING IDENTITIES is based on the reconstruction of new identities: the transformation of our identities is essential to face the changes of the contemporary world. The process of building ourselves passes through the continuous relations with other people’s identities and the identities of communities, cultures and societies. The event will be focused on the human body as a changing system that connects us with other bodies and spaces to perceive the surrounding reality; a strong communication system with its own language and infinite ways of expression. We invite artists to analyze the hidden parts of our identities, through an immersive experience inside the fascinating universe of the complex labyrinths of our consciousness.

CANVAS consists of 3 main eventsTHE SKIN PROJECT (September 03 / October 09), OUT OF BALANCE (October 22, 2020 / January 29, 2021) and MIXING IDENTITIES. We are now selecting artists for the following upcoming exhibition:

As a child, I tried drawing and painting. I can still remember that my parents hung up all the drawings in the apartment and turned them into a large poster wall. When I was at school I took design courses and in 2001 I painted the Arc de Triumph on canvas for the first time. After rediscovering art and painting for myself in 2018, I paint with pouring media, structure pastes and use various aids. I am fascinated by the different consistencies of the colors. Read more

I was born in Poland, relocated to the United Kingdom decades ago… Even though I don't like to label or categorize myself, because nether a name nor any labels would ever describe whom I truly am, but in the field of art I can be an expressionist abstract artist. My work is a pure expression of the deeply suppressed and overflowing mind, which express itself on a canvas through me. Read more
