Her design work is always influenced by something that to some extend follows her in her minds or that crosses her visual field in a very intensive way. The concept behind her last collection was about mirroring, reflection and conjoined twins. During her research she saw mirroring everywhere in her daily life so she thought she has to work with this topic.

Carolin also likes to look at medical areas and takes something that normally creates aversions and transforms it into aesthetical objects. Her intention is that people look closer at objects and do not see them just as one piece. She wants them to discover all the different parts that an object contains out and also to see the hidden beauty.

Carolin designs and makes sculptural footwear that somehow confuses, or disturbs, or grasps the spectator for a long time. With her work she wants to challenge the eyes and the mind. Footwear is not just about being wearable. It is about the wonderful material leather, all the little steps and details that make a pair of shoe to a wonderful luxury product. Her designs especially for her last collectionConjoined Illusion” are complex, dynamic constructions mixed with the typically aesthetic and grace of a shoe. Carolin adores the traditional way of making footwear and for her designs she combines the handcraft work with new and innovative materials such as carbon fibre.
