Coreen Bernard
Coreen Bernard, aka CJBartist, is a London-based artist and HCPC Registered Art Psychotherapist whose work bridges classical painting techniques with urban street art. Drawing on personal experience and social commentary, her mixed-media practice explores themes of feminism, racial identity, and cultural trauma. Her current series, SOS: Save Our Sons, addresses the UK’s knife crime epidemic through a deeply reflective lens, incorporating found objects, religious iconography, and popular culture. Coreen’s work is informed by her therapeutic practice and inspired by artists such as Kehinde Wiley, Chris Ofili, and Barbara

Coreen’s work is a bold synthesis of classical technique and urban expression, blending historical and religious iconography with the raw immediacy of street art. Through acrylics, spray paint, collage, and found objects, she constructs layered narratives that interrogate feminism, racial identity, and cultural awareness.
Her current series, SOS: Save Our Sons, confronts the knife crime epidemic in the UK, drawing on personal experience and the shared voices of mothers affected by violence. This deeply reflective body of work explores themes of grief, resilience, and systemic inequality, incorporating media imagery, religious symbolism, and the aesthetics of protest.

Influenced by artists such as Kehinde Wiley, Chris Ofili, and Barbara Walker, Coreen reclaims sacred visual language to elevate marginalised stories. Her practice is fluid and responsive – each piece shaped by the emotional weight of its subject and the urgency of social commentary.
SOS: Save Our Sons is not only a visual campaign but a call to collective awareness, compassion, and change.
