At the heart of the artistic practice of Grzegorz Gust and Julia Gust-Trybuś – a collaborative family duo – lies a shared conviction: that a profound, unbroken bond exists between the human inner world and surrounding nature. While each retains a distinct vision, exploring the boundaries between realism and the dream realm, their works complement one another, capturing the emotion and mood of the moment. Using biology, structural depth, and emotional resonance as their primary modes of expression, their joint exhibitions and projects present a full spectrum of existence – from the primal, organic structures of the physical world explored by Grzegorz, to the spiritual, subtle, and emotional dimension of human life explored by Julia. In a digitalized world increasingly starved of texture, their paintings – distinguished by tactile depth, rich impasto, and years of dedicated craftsmanship – offer a quiet sanctuary and serve as a testament to the enduring strength of human sensitivity.

Julia Gust-Trybuś was born in 1998 in Grudziądz and is currently based in Bydgoszcz, Poland. An emerging contemporary artist and member of the Association of Polish Artists (ZAP), she holds a degree in Business Design from WSB University in Bydgoszcz, though her true training has unfolded over more than fifteen years of continuous, dedicated painting practice. Her work sits within magic realism, balancing precise draftsmanship with dreamlike, transformed imagery. Faces – often altered, deeply expressive, wrapped in mystery – are her recurring subject, and the eyes in particular become a focal point, a conceptual portal through which the viewer is invited into an intimate dialogue with color, emotion, and imagination. Her paintings have appeared in solo and group exhibitions and now belong to private collections across Poland and abroad.

Grzegorz Gust was born in 1973, also in Grudziądz, and now lives and works in Szubin, Poland. A contemporary painter, active forester, and fellow member of ZAP, Grzegorz has built an internationally recognized practice in the field of organic abstraction. A defining milestone in his career arrived in 2026 with an extensive feature on the global art platform Aatonau, titled “Grzegorz Gust: Between Stillness, Texture, and Light,” which positioned him among the artists redefining the boundaries of organic abstraction today. His foundation, he explains, is inseparable from his life as a forester: decades spent reading the “anatomy of the forest” have given him access to nature’s deep structural logic, rather than its surface appearance. Self-taught in mixed media, he has spent years researching the physical and chemical properties of his materials, which he combines with his forestry background to build three-dimensional, dendritic structures – sculptural forms reminiscent of root systems and biological networks. His works circulate regularly through prestigious auction houses and private collections worldwide.

Asked about the themes running through his work, Grzegorz speaks of geometric order and organic dynamics: “I explore the geometric order and organic dynamics of nature. I create three-dimensional dendritic structures reminiscent of root systems and biological networks, seeking to translate the quiet stillness of the forest into a visual language.” Julia, by contrast, turns her gaze inward. “I examine the human condition through portraiture and the alteration of facial features,” she says. “I treat eyes as a conceptual portal – a focal point through which the viewer enters into a dialogue with their own emotions and imagination.” Technically, the two remain distinct voices within the same duo. Grzegorz builds heavy, sculptured background textures in mixed media, working with a muted, earth-toned palette that evokes tranquility, equilibrium, and a touch of fairytale stillness. Julia moves fluidly between refined detail and soft, expressive brushwork, letting precise draftsmanship dissolve into botanical motifs and dreamlike environments.

“In my work, I do not copy the forest – I transfer its stillness and structure onto the canvas to remind us that we are part of the very same organic story.” – Grzegorz Gust

“I paint what is invisible at first glance – the emotion hidden in a gaze and the exact moment where reality begins to merge with a dream.” – Julia Gust-Trybuś

Beyond the studio, the duo’s presence on the exhibition and market circuit continues to grow. Their joint project “Gusta i Guściki II” was presented at Tumska Gallery in Poznań as a family art exhibition, while their individual and group works have appeared at the National Exhibition of Painting, Sculpture, and Photography at the Regional Museum in Rogoźnie, and at ZAP group shows in Poznań, including the structural impasto piece “In the Rain.” Together with Grzegorz’s 2026 Aatonau monograph and both artists’ continuous presence in fine art auction houses, their practice stands as a rare, sustained dialogue between the organic and the intimate – between the forest and the face.
