TOVA is a London-based multidisciplinary artist, poet, singer and performer. Holding a PhD in Finance from Bayes Business School, University of London, she brings structure, precision and systems thinking to a practice shaped equally by a life lived across Kazakhstan, Russia, the UAE, Israel and the UK.

My practice develops at the intersection of art, financial research and lived multicultural experience. With a PhD in Finance and more than a decade of applied work in financial markets, I approach artistic creation as a form of investigation. I use visual art to examine how knowledge is constructed, how value emerges within unstable systems, and how contemporary conditions transform perception.

My background includes research into market microstructure, financial modelling, forecasting, trading strategies, market surveillance and machine learning in finance. These fields have shaped the way I understand structures, relationships and uncertainty. In my artistic practice, however, scientific knowledge is not presented through conventional academic language. It is translated into material form, spatial experience and visual rhythm. I am interested in what happens when analytical thinking becomes embodied and when an abstract model begins to operate as an image or object.

Each work develops through a process comparable to research. I begin with a hypothesis, a contradiction or a condition that needs to be understood. I study the relationships within it, construct possible models and gradually translate the resulting knowledge into an artistic form. The completed artwork does not illustrate the research directly. Instead, it preserves its internal logic while opening it to sensory and emotional interpretation.

My practice is organised around two interconnected authorial concepts: TOVA NUTS and TOVA WORLDS.

TOVA NUTS are sculptural artworks that hold knowledge in an aesthetic and material form. The nut functions as both a physical structure and a conceptual model. Its outer form suggests protection, concentration and latent potential, while its internal components reveal the layers of research from which the work emerged. Each TOVA NUT is conceived as an integrated artistic system rather than an isolated object. It can include painting, sculpture and digital material, with the different elements operating as parts of one conceptual whole.

To possess a TOVA NUT is therefore to encounter knowledge not as information to be consumed, but as a form that can be lived with. The work proposes that knowledge has emotional and spatial dimensions. It can be held, revisited and interpreted over time. Through this idea, ownership becomes a form of sustained engagement rather than simple acquisition.

TOVA WORLDS expand this principle into immersive environments. They bring together visual art and spatial composition, while incorporating text, sound, video or poetry where these media are necessary to the work. Each environment is constructed as a cohesive artistic reality with its own internal structure. Rather than presenting separate objects, TOVA WORLDS invite the viewer to enter a system of relationships and experience how meaning shifts through movement, attention and duration.

My work responds to the accelerating conditions of the twenty-first century. The increasing pace of contemporary life alters our experience of time and weakens the ability to sustain attention. Events, images and information arrive faster than they can be processed, while the distinction between what is important and what is merely present becomes increasingly difficult to maintain.

I examine this condition of data overload, particularly the moment when access to more information no longer produces a clearer understanding of reality. Information can accumulate without becoming knowledge. Interpretation is therefore not a secondary act but one of the central challenges of contemporary life. My works explore how visual form can create a temporary structure within this excess, allowing connections to become perceptible without reducing their complexity.

The shrinking of the time horizon is another recurring concern. Contemporary systems often privilege immediate reaction over sustained orientation. This affects financial decision-making, cultural behaviour and personal experience. When the future is understood only through short cycles, continuity becomes difficult to perceive. My practice seeks to restore a sense of duration by creating works that require repeated viewing and resist immediate resolution.

Value is also central to my work. My financial background has taught me that value is rarely inherent or stable. It develops through relationships, expectations and changing systems of interpretation. I bring this understanding into art by examining how meaning is produced when familiar structures become unstable. The artwork becomes a space in which value can be reconsidered, not only in economic terms but as attention, knowledge and emotional significance.

My experience of living across Kazakhstan, Russia, the United Arab Emirates, Israel and the United Kingdom also informs the work. Moving between cultural contexts has made me attentive to the ways perception is shaped by language, social codes and collective memory. The same form or event may carry different emotional and symbolic meanings depending on where it is encountered.

Rather than treating multicultural experience as a combination of separate identities, I approach it as a shifting system of perspectives. Cultural triggers and learned reactions overlap, contradict one another and form new ways of seeing. My practice emerges from this movement between Eastern and Western contexts, but it does not attempt to resolve their differences. It examines how identity can remain coherent while being formed through multiple cultural realities.

I am particularly interested in the boundaries between internal experience and external systems. Economic structures, technological development and political change are often perceived as distant forces, yet they directly affect the emotional life of individuals. Anxiety, anticipation and instability are not separate from the systems that produce them. My work brings these levels together by translating structural conditions into forms that can be experienced physically and intuitively.

This relationship between inner and outer reality leads to a broader question of depth. Contemporary life often presents itself through surfaces, interfaces and rapidly changing representations. My work asks where meaning is located beneath these visible layers and whether depth should be understood as something hidden or as a relationship that becomes visible through sustained attention.

Abstraction allows me to explore these questions without fixing them within a single narrative. I use reduced forms, material contrasts and spatial relationships to create structures that remain open to interpretation. Scientific precision and emotional uncertainty coexist within the work. Logic does not suppress feeling, and emotion is not positioned as the opposite of knowledge.

My aim is to create forms through which viewers can recognise connections that are difficult to perceive in everyday experience. The work does not offer a simplified explanation of reality. Instead, it provides a structure within which complexity can be approached without fragmentation.

Through TOVA NUTS and TOVA WORLDS, I invite viewers to experience knowledge as something embodied and relational. These works propose that analytical thought and sensory experience do not need to be separated. Together, they can provide a fuller understanding of contemporary reality and help restore a sense of balance within conditions defined by speed, instability and excess.

Ultimately, my practice is concerned with wholeness. I understand reality not as a collection of isolated events but as a network in which systems, emotions and individual choices continuously affect one another. Art allows these relationships to become visible. It creates a space where scattered experiences can be understood as parts of a larger structure and where knowledge can acquire a material and emotional presence.
