Walter Böhm

“My works are divided into two genres, the figurative style and the illustrative one that reminds a bit of the characters of Disney cartoons. In my figurative works the characters must express the movement and feelings they feel at that moment; therefore, it is not a stylistic exercise that is to exalt the abstinence from the physical reality of the subject himself, but the most intimate part of his soul. I don’t care much about the landscape but I work more on subjects because they are the ones who move the scenes, I don’t care about still lifes where the subject or subjects are static. The illustrative part represents funny characters (the owl, the snowman, the clown) who are placed in settings that express difficult situations that I don’t want to dramatize by showing the ironic side of life”.

Walter Böhm is a young professional painter born in Genoa in 1993. He attended the Klee-Barabino Art School and despite a fluctuating path between doubts and perplexities on the path taken, his professor of Figurative Arts convinced him to continue his artistic route and he was selected Academy of Fine Arts in Genoa where he earned a Master’s Degree in Painting. When he was still an academic student he attended a course at the Genovese Academy of Photography at the Faculty of Architecture, held by the esteemed Professor Giancarlo Pinto and the course of Artistic Digital Photography under the direction of Prof. Alberto Terrile, known in Italy, France and the United States above all for his photographic work in progress on the angels because he considers that the Painting and Artistic Photography are valid tools to express his being and his art.

Walter Böhm produces works in digital and paper format and some of them he exhibited in Internationals Events in Venice, Zurich and Miami and at the 4th Edition of the Biennale of Contemporary Art in Genoa organized by the Satura Gallery – Palazzo Stella. Two traditional works were selected in the 2019/2020 edition of the SaturArte National Competition.

Visual Poetry
“The Angry Apple“

Red and crazy with anger,
The storm of dark red apples rises, echoing
The blood-red sea.

Visual Poetry
“The Apple of Disgust“

My apple, which just eating it
bitterness leaves,
too much time alone has been,
and nothing is left of the taste.

Visual Poetry
“The Apple of Joy“

The circle of knowledge in circles we turn –
happy we are the knowledge to all give:
A global knowledge we give away

Visual Poetry
“A dance so beautiful that it leaves you breathless“
Slow steps,
and rotation with straight leg
than the pirouetting and finally the bow hand in hand.
If the rhythm is right
we are happy and content
and angry Death will be;
If the rhythm is wrong, Death laughs,
and we will remain in despair.

Visual Poetry
“The thought of death is enclosed in a crystal“

Death and Life
with its joys and pains
alternate with rebirths and incarnations…
the Nothing, an endless oblivion!
But a Crystal Kingdom.
without Crystal skulls
what Kingdom is it?
He is like a treasure seeker with no treasure.
Like Death without Death,
a worthless immortality.
Without experiences, joys, sorrows or regrets
you leave no legacy – an asset unattended.

Visual Poetry
“The Argentine double dance of Death“

We sing and dance
the courage we have,
if we are together, we are not afraid and we look to the future
with hope

Visual Poetry
“The two white deaths in a black key“

We who are dead, wander wander.
We who dead are, wander wander
and we never despair
dead we are and dead we remain!
