Regarded by many as an anomaly in the design world, Marcel Wanders studio has made it his mission to “create an environment of love, live with passion and make our most exciting dreams come true.” This work excites, provokes, and polarises, but never fails to surprise for its ingenuity, daring and singular quest to uplift the human spirit, and entertain. The studio’s chief concern is bringing the human touch back to design, ushering in what he calls design’s ‘new age;’ in which designer, craftsperson and user are reunited. In his process, the studio defies design dogma, preferring instead to focus on holistic solutions rather than the technocratic. In this universe, the coldness of industrialism is replaced instead by the poetry, fantasy and romance of different ages, vividly brought to life in the contemporary moment.

Teterboro, NJ: International renown design studio Marcel Wanders partnered with Walters to create a romantic and escapist outdoor furniture collection. The depth and generous comfort invite total relaxation to get lost in a daydream. “These exquisite settings indulge the senses, support the soul and provide a place for dreams to begin,” says Marcel Wanders. “It has been a pleasure developing the collection together. The pieces have a sophisticated duality between the powder coat aluminum and the soft, complexly woven resin. The delicate, flared profile is actually very strong structurally,” says Adam Schindler, director of Walters.

Gabriele Chiave, Creative Director at Marcel Wanders further explains, “The encapsulating hard shell gives way to a contrasting soft cushion, making people feel safe and secure.” Walters is the perfect company to bring the collection to light with four generations of manufacturing excellence, service to the residential market and flexibility for hospitality. The collection includes a hanging or standing daybed, chaise longue, sofa, lounge chair, side and bar tables. It is available in white or black resin.
