Feedback release: ALCHEMIC BODY | FIRE . AIR . WATER . EARTH 2019
THE LINE Contemporary Art Space, London | December 20, 2019 – January 31, 2020
ITSLIQUID Group, in collaboration with YMX Arts and Mercato Metropolitano, is glad to announce the impressive success of ALCHEMIC BODY | FIRE . AIR . WATER . EARTH 2019. The opening was held in London, at THE LINE Contemporary Art Space and the exhibition will run from December 20 2019 to January 31 2020.
ALCHEMIC BODY | FIRE . AIR . WATER . EARTH 2019 is an exhibition of contemporary art, focused on the concept of transformation, starting from the alchemical processes, that aim to purify the nature elements: earth, air, water and fire.
The concept of transformation has been deeply inspected by the artists, especially by Christel Van Hemelrijck: she doesn’t represent classic sceneries but an outburst of plain emotions and in her latest series titled “Stories”, the backgrounds become more elaborate, more delicate. The engines of Anne Felicie Nickles are, indeed, the exploration and the transformation, as we can notice in her sculptures, where she melts the technique of fuse glass with graphic art and painting. The pictures of Darja Stefancic are withdrawn from our space and time and moved to the spheres of the imaginary, the fairy-tale, the dreamlike, the visionary: it is only possible to capture their essence if we take a step and enter them. Ibeabuchi Ananaba use an interdisciplinary approach for his art creations, searching for new experiences. The works of Fant Wenger are built up in layers using transfer printing technology and the pictures do not tell linear stories, yet there is a mysterious movement in them: in this way he always leaves the viewer plenty of scope to develop his own interpretations from a picture.
During the opening, the performers beautifully expressed the concept of the art exhibition through their art: MOTUS Company, with a female journey called “Broken lady”, is a daily fight between imposed models and the need to truly be herself passes through her body. Tumbleweed communicate that all matter is vibration and subject to change. An endless amount of possible forms arise and collapse from this incessant flux. “The gyre” is a duet evolving from one basic action: walking. Gravitating around one shared central point, walking accelerates into a whirling, fathoming the mechanics of a relationship. In every instant of a turn, the two performers drift in and out of another, the distinct lines and contours of the bodies blur delicately into one.
ALCHEMIC BODY | FIRE . AIR . WATER . EARTH 2019 has showed off its vibrant energy thanks to all the artists involved!

ABOUT MERCATO METROPOLITANO
Mercato Metropolitano started with a pilot project in 2015 during the World Expo in Milan, regenerating a 150,000 sq.ft. disused railway station. The development of the first Mercato Metropolitano was carefully planned to retain the site’s original appearance, which nurtured the local community’s affection for a special part of their urban history. Over a four-month period, we saw in excess of two million visitors and our customer spend was over €8 million. The concept evolved from this success, and we opened our first site in Elephant & Castle, London in 2016.
Our MMarketplace is where selected food suppliers and our trading partners connect with our visitors to breathe life into healthy living that helps local communities grow strong together. MM brings diverse food practices and ingredients from different countries, cultures and traditions into urban environments. We take a “Glocal” approach: global reach with a local focus. While you will find dishes from around the world in our marketplace, we encourage the use of locally-sourced, natural ingredients.
