Feedback release: ANIMA MUNDI FESTIVAL 2019 – RITUALS
THE ROOM Contemporary Art Space | May 09 – July 05, 2019
Palazzo Ca’ Zanardi | May 12 – July 05, 2019
ITSLIQUID Group is pleased to share the great result of ANIMA MUNDI FESTIVAL 2019 – RITUALS that has exceeded all expectations. Curated by Arch. Luca Curci (founder and director of THE ROOM Contemporary Art Space, ITSLIQUID Group and Luca Curci Architects), the openings took place at THE ROOM Contemporary Art Space and at Palazzo Ca’ Zanardi, in Venice.
ANIMA MUNDI FESTIVAL 2019 – RITUALS is running from May 09 to July 05, 2019 during the same period of the 58th Venice Biennale, curated by Ralph Rugoff and organized by La Biennale di Venezia 2019, chaired by Paolo Baratta. This year ITSLIQUID Group is honored to present the exhibition of Osten Pavilion of the Republic of North Macedonia at Palazzo Ca’ Zanardi, with the special participation of Mice Jankulovski and Olga Tobreluts, curated by Zsolt Petranyi and Kornelija Koneska.
ITSLIQUID Group will begin a charity initiative aimed to support some of the most important no-profit organizations that are internationally involved in the environmental protection, such as United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change, Sea Shepherd Conservation Society, One Tree Planted, The Ocean Cleanup and Plastic Oceans. Indeed, they will have some interesting talks during CONSCIOUSNESS and VISIONS, the following ANIMA MUNDI’s appointments. This choice comes from the essence of ANIMA MUNDI in which everything is related to the living entities of the planet. Click here for more information.
The festival focuses on the concept of ANIMA MUNDI that, according to several historical cultures, religions and philosophical systems, is an intrinsic connection between all living entities on the planet, which relates to the world in a similar way as the human soul is connected to the human body.
The opening at Palazzo Ca’ Zanardi has been graced by the stunning performances of international artists, such as the thrilled show of Elena Mildner, who has exhibited a new way of live painting, using skatebording as an art tool, thanks to the skateboarders David Struber and Martin Birnbaumer; the painted waves created an “information calligraphy” on the canvas to represent their emotions and connect them with the viewer. Brioni‘s performance “It’s only you” sets a magnetic experience combining art and music, indeed she plays her paintings live through her voice, influenced by the electronic world that follows the trip-hop wave created by the greats of the 90’s; through her art she wants to show an abstact world of love and dreams. The meditation “About the leaves” by Satoko Fukuda focused on how the body’s energy expands through its journey from zero to one, just like as a tree’s leaves fall down to earth, return to zero and are then reincarnated. Through “Showtime”, Alina Sokulska transforms a jazz performance from a mere entertainment for guests into a deeper and personal thing, that goes beyond the show itself and overwhelms the inner reality.
The exhibition has been enriched by the presence of artists like Katya Traboulsi with her sculptures characterized by the emotional intensity with which she confronts the effects of the Lebanese civil war; Esin Cakir with her “Awakening” series tries to focus the attention on the inner instead of the surface of things; Özlem Başer realizes, through her sculptures, the fact that all beings are interacting with each other, all are part of the Whole Universe with all its energies. Palazzo Ca’ Zanardi’s cultural dynamism has been created also by the Synergy Group represented by Alia Aldiqs, Almaha Almutlaq, Heba Gabr, Khalai Jimase and Nosheen Mohammad, five dynamic female artists who fight for promoting peace, cultural and religious tolerance and Michele Tombolini, supported by Galleria Contini Contemporary London and AsrtStat, who with his satirical installation “La Mendicante”, wants people to ponder over wealth and poverty and the slight gap between them.
At THE ROOM Contemporary Art Space there have been many artists who have contributed to its splendor, like Mark Anthony Taylor who reminds us that “Time” defines every moment, connects and separates people, brings both clarity and confusion, and that the choices of the people make inevitably hold the possibility of multiple consequences. Asher Mains‘s “Sea Lungs” portraies a praise to the sea, to which people are strictly connected, since it represents the source of humans’ life force, both ethically and physiologically, by giving cardiovascular and pulmonary benefit to our body. Alison Jackson, a multi award winning artist, explores the cult of celebrity: in her artworks likeness becomes real and fantasy touches on the believable; in fact, her art wants to show celebrity in paradoxical situations like in the photos “Will and Kate in the bath”, “Diana finger up” and the provocative “Trump and Miss Mexico”, demonstrating that while seeing is believing, the truth is entirely another story. Natalie Massa Berdugo‘s art has a strong focus on nature and with “Lost in the forest Act. I” she represents a birch trees having no beginning and no ending because the observer is found to be in the middle of the forest; while this gives a mysterious spin to the painting, it also carries a beautiful message of hope and adventure. Another important personality is Daniel Pešta, whose works have been exhibited several times at MuMo Museum Montanelli, focuses on the theme of mysteries of human existence, the fragile nature of intimacy and the role of man within society, like in his video “I’m Vertical” showed in both our locations
Multiculturalism, powerful messages and dutifulness are the key words of ANIMA MUNDI FESTIVAL.

ANIMA MUNDI is the invisible energy behind all the natural and the artificial elements that allows the planet to live. Thanks to the hidden connections of ANIMA MUNDI, all the ecosystems of the Earth, before and after the appearance of the mankind, found their equilibrium, their ways to live and to develop themselves, to transform and to evolve. All the beings of the planet, plants, minerals, animals are permeated by a secret force that has always stimulated the human thought and research.
Plato expressed his thought about the ANIMA MUNDI in the Timaeus, “this world is indeed a living being endowed with a soul and intelligence…a single visible living entity containing all other living entities, which by their nature are all related”.
