Venice | May 09 – November 24, 2019
ITSLIQUID GROUP, in collaboration with Venice Events and Ca’ Zanardi, is pleased to share the remarkable success of ANIMA MUNDI 2019 – ITSLIQUID International Art Festival, from May 09 to November 24 2019, at THE ROOM Contemporary Art Space and at Palazzo Ca’ Zanardi, during the same period of the 58th Venice Biennale.
ANIMA MUNDI FESTIVAL 2019, curated by Arch. Luca Curci, has presented a wide variety of artists from more than 40 country with more than 800 works of painting, photography, installation/sculpture, video art, architecture, design and performance art during its three appointments: RITUALS (May 09 – July 05), CONSCIOUSNESS (July 25 – Sept 20), VISIONS (Oct 03 – Nov 24).
ITSLIQUID Group has also begun a charity initiative aimed to support some of the most important no-profit organizations that are internationally involved in the environmental protection, such as United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change, Sea Shepherd Conservation Society, One Tree Planted, The Ocean Cleanup and Plastic Oceans. In seven months, ANIMA MUNDI FESTIVAL 2019 has been a liquid cultural hub between creatives, exhibition spaces and art lovers, visited by an audience of hundreds of people, artists, curators, art collectors and art worlds’ professionals and personalities.
The festival focuses on the concept of ANIMA MUNDI, that according to several historical cultures, religions and philosophical systems, is an intrinsic connection between all living entities on the planet, which relates to the world in a similar way as the human soul is connected to the human body: it is the invisible energy behind all the natural and the artificial elements that allows the planet to live.
Thanks to the hidden connections of ANIMA MUNDI, all the ecosystems of the Earth, before and after the appearance of the mankind, found their equilibrium, their ways to live and to develop themselves, to transform and to evolve. All the beings of the planet, plants, minerals, animals are permeated by a secret force that has always stimulated the human thought and research.

ANIMA MUNDI FESTIVAL 2019 started with RITUALS: the openings took place on May 09 at THE ROOM Contemporary Art Space and on May 11 at Palazzo Ca’ Zanardi, after the press preview dedicated to the presentation of the Osten Pavilion of the Republic of North Macedonia, with the special participation of Mice Jankulovski and Olga Tobreluts, curated by Zsolt Petranyi and Kornelija Koneska.
During the openings stunning performances of international artists inspired the visitors, such as Elena Mildner, who exhibited a new way of live painting, using skatebording as an art tool, thanks to the skateboarders David Struber and Martin Birnbaumer; Brioni who set a magnetic experience combining art and music, by playing her paintings live through her voice and Satoko Fukuda, who focused on how the body’s energy expands itslef.
The first appointment of ANIMA MUNDI FESTIVAL 2019 has been enriched in both locations by the presence of artists like Katya Traboulsi who confronted the effects of the Lebanese civil war with her sculptures; the Synergy Group, five dynamic female artists who fight for promoting peace, cultural and religious tolerance; Michele Tombolini, supported by Galleria Contini Contemporary London and AsrtStat; Asher Mains who expressed the relation with the sea, to which people are strictly connected; Alison Jackson, whose artworks’ fantasy touches on the believable and Daniel Pešta, whose work focused on the theme of mysteries of human existence.

The openings of CONSCIOUSNESS, second appointment of ANIMA MUNDI FESTIVAL 2019, took place on July 25 at THE ROOM Contemporary Art Space and on July 26 at Palazzo Ca’ Zanardi; here, a representative of Sea Shepeherd Conservation Society made all the visitors ponder on the risks of the marine wildlife and ecosystems. This choice comes from the essence of ANIMA MUNDI in which everything is related to the living entities of the planet.
This concept was widely interpreted by all the artists, starting from Luc De Man, observing nature and man and searching for the balance between them; Barbora Balek, who gave a touch of futuristic innovation with a built-in display inside a life-size glass skull, that projected topics that people are most searching for on the Internet in a fast sequence; Jacqueline Bilheran-Gaillard who described the poetry of the discarded things and the beauty of objects that have lost their familiar use; Christopher Palm recalled the setting of nature exploring the consciousness of an entire forest system in the last remaining watershed of the Choco Forest of Ecuador.
All those different perceptions of the concept of ANIMA MUNDI were the perfect frame for the performances, whose energies were spread through the entire location, like Bianca Anne Braunesberger and Vito Vidovič‘s intimate invitation to find oneself in one’s own skin, through dance and corporeality; resurrected from scriptures and architectural ruins, the Classical Dance form of Rachana Kar focused on the combination of heroic athleticism and grace; Michele Brega set a silent, reflected, parallel cry of individuality and, for instance, vulnerability.

The final appointment of ANIMA MUNDI FESTIVAL 2019, VISIONS, opened its doors on October 03 at THE ROOM Contemporary Art Space and on October 04 at Palazzo Ca’ Zanardi; the exhibition has highlighted how real, intense and forceful planet’s hidden connections are, representing a forum for direct exchange of ideas and contacts between collectors, artists, photographers, designers and art professionals, featuring paintings, sculptures, photography art, installations, video art and live performance.
The photographs of Alexandre Castagna represented a call, more like a cry, for what we have done to our planet; feeling that every human is able to translate from visual poetry to an introspective understanding of the world that surrounds us, Basim Ghomorlou depicted the aesthetics of nature in black and white; combining his background in zen meditation and high-end construction, Adam Marelli painted possibilities of water; Vincent Robbins wanted to explore, through science and through common everyday situations, the mysteries of common everyday experiences; Nick Kacic-Miosic was motivated by that genuine charm that only nature can directly refer and allows him to express himself intertwining the respect for past and desire for freedom, the freedom that is about to break out through the thin skin of stone and be enlisted or document the expression forever.
The sinergy wouldn’t have been that strong without the contribution of all the participating performers: Athina Kanellopoulou by eating the book of Savoir Vivre, sought the sense of liberation from the label of established gendered social identity and the redefinition of the Ego as a subjective entity. Ayaka Tajiri wore a mirror mask as an observer who gives people the opportunity to express their dream experiences to themselves: every experience is interconnected and they are all part of one consciousness. Francoise Berlanger, Daya Halle, Katia Lecomte Mirsky and Caroline Daish recite together, in a very elaborate, sonorous way, played with sounds, rhythms and voices in “Les Lianes”. Jordina Ros & Pere Estadella expressed a clear critical, social and cultural vision, working on a map of transversal based on sensory creativity. Merel Noorlander, Ibelisse Guardia Ferragutti & Artémise Ploegaerts questioned why the body moves through different types of spaces in a certain way and how art can influence this physical experience.
ANIMA MUNDI FESTIVAL 2019 has revealed its symphony that never repeats and continues to develop. ITSLIQUID Group, with more than 20 years of experience and more than 250 art exhibitions all around the world, is proud to have presented all the artists who made this possible.
