ITSLIQUID GROUP, in collaboration with Venice Events and Ca’ Zanardi, is pleased to share the remarkable success of CONTEMPORARY VENICE 2019 – ITSLIQUID International Art Show. Curated by Arch. Luca Curci (founder and director of THE ROOM Contemporary Art Space, ITSLIQUID Group and Luca Curci Architects), the exhibition took place at THE ROOM Contemporary Art Space from December 05 2019 to January 10 2020 and in Palazzo Ca’ Zanardi, in Venice, from December 06 2019 to January 10 2020.

CONTEMPORARY VENICE 2019 focuses on the theme of IDENTITIES and on the relationship between man, society and contemporary cities, exploring the lifestyles and the ways of being that run on a parallel level of our ordinary life.

The sixth edition of CONTEMPORARY VENICE opened its doors on December 05 at THE ROOM Contemporary Art Space: a fabulous opening party, where a wide variety of artists coming from all over the world shared their perception of the Art Show in many ways.

The works of Daphna Katzor Laszlo depict a world taken over by technological development, where people lose touch with nature and are rendered disconnected and distant. Timo Frank makes people think: he focuses its work on the expression of the body in a single moment – it’s the first moment of contact of a falling body but there is no movement, no relation to speed or falling height. You can decide for yourself: is this moment real or a constructed reality? And does this even matter? Cristina Sanpaolesi prefers not the noble subjects of antiquity, but the humanity and vulnerability of ordinary people, while Florian Nörl redefines the boundaries of the textile medium in the visual arts: an interaction of plastic and pictorial exploration of the textile material which result is a colorful creation with a velvety touch.

On December 06 the opening has been held in Palazzo Ca’ Zanardi: a marvelous location made even more beautiful thanks to the creations of the artists like Abdel Hadi El Wachachi who “practice sculpture as an antibiotic to preserve my humanity for more than twenty years” or Anne Lise Kaaby who paints in layers creating a surface that is pleasing and brings the viewers attention to explore the several levels of this process, as well as the creations of Daniel Renè and of Norma De Saint Picman. The atmosphere has been made magical by Marie Kassapian‘s performance, which concept is based on “Barbie’s syndrome”, a phenomenon that puts a woman under a continuous process of trying to win confirmation and acceptance from the others, mainly in terms of her external appearance; by Nikoleta Koutitsa & Karolina Theleriti, with “This is not what you see”: they use an illusion in order to suggest narratives, but that meaning is suspended, as in our dreams. A desire to surprise through playfulness, sense of doubt opened up to wonder, and wonder opened up to doubt. The perfomance of Sunara Begum & Tunde Jegede confronts how much of us we have taken or left behind in our social and psychic evolutions, while “Al passo coi templi”, of Casa del Musical, is a dreamlike journey to discover the Greek myth: it tells a tale beyond time, a dream dreamed 2600 years ago, a golden age of powerful Gods and extraordinary heroes, a story survived in our imagination until our days.

CONTEMPORARY VENICE 2019 has proved once again its strong communication system by giving the opportunity to creatives to express themselves in their infinite ways.

Sumptuous and possessing particular charm, Ca’ Zanardi is located in a most peaceful setting and has its own delightful private garden as well as a magnificent terrace full of sun and colours.
