“The forcing of nature” by Hanna Björklund Olsson

Hanna Björklund Olsson is studying fashion at Beckmans College of Design in Stockholm. At just 22 years of age Hanna originally from Leksand, Sweden, feels she has found her path. With a penchant for contrasts – such as those between exaggerated characteristics and minimalist silhouettes, refined elegance and coarse details – Hanna has been passionate about fashion ever since she was a child.

It all began this Winter, with the presentation of her first collection, “The Forcing of Nature“, at fashion show “Other Perspectives” at Beckmans. She creates pieces that would speak about the way nature has been compelled to submit to humans. “We force nature to comply to our models and this is a form of violence”, she explains, with the typical Swedish inclination towards eco-friendliness.

With layers of denim, both real and plastic flowers, Hanna believes in the message that fashion can convey. Now she’s busy finishing her studies at Beckmans College and then, perhaps, a master at Central St. Martins in London. “One day I’d like to launch my own label, but first I want to gain as much experience as possible”.
