ID / Identities | Istanbul (Turkey)
In quest of definition

ID / Identities, International Art Festival of Photography, Video Art, Computer Graphics, Installation and Performing Art, was held in the city of Istanbul. The Koza Visual Culture and Arts Association and the Avantgarde Hotel, the venues of the event, opened their doors on Thursday 22 and Friday 23 of November until Sunday 23 December. Ninety-eight artists, from different countries, had been selected to be part of this project. The event, organized by International ArtExpo and curated by Luca Curci, dealt with the theme of identities and all their reflections on cities, bodies, society and cultures, mixing borders between them.

“One person could be considered the little´s town roast or the last ant of a megalopolis, and also feel his own identity as full how the legitimate heir of an ancient monarchy fells his own identity. The identity starts in oneself: honesty gives valour to anybody that never contravened men’s & women’s laws because don´t exist any disruption in the intrinsic value how a human person. While an individual man is complete, all is possible. It´s true that for arriving at the sources of material richness has a big influence where you have been born, in what family, or what´s your country, but always exist the possibility of strength the own identity because identities habit in oneself and all personal circumstances are changeable. And are more changeable when everyone likes the change. For be a complete person, all is important: the own life experiences, genetics, the place where everyone was born. Every person can grow up, also who´s have an “afraid heritage” (that kind of heritage helps to don´t repeat errors and to look for clear goals): the best wines have more varieties distinguished by their fragrances, whose could be sweet and very penetrating nuances. The best seeds give the most beautiful flowers when growing up in the best land, in a place where rains is enough, and the sun has beaten the optimal quantity, without burning the flower. We change the sun for ourselves, the land for the place where we feel self-realized, and the water for our own life experiences… and we´ll have a complete human identity”. Ramuntcho Robles Quevedo & Marta Stella, 2012

International ArtExpo is particularly proud about “ID / Identities” event, because for the first time new categories such as installation and performing art have been introduced in its exhibitions. Istanbul and its ardent cultural and artistic life were the perfect scenery for this incessant quest of “Identity” definition and comprehension.
The exhibition was reviewed by International and Turkish press, and was visited every day by many International visitors and Turkish citizens, journalists and critics particularly sensitive to the theme and contemporary art in new languages.

At the end of the event, the organization in collaboration with curators had selected the winning artists of 1 Solo Exhibition in Venice, held in one of our exclusive venues between San Marco Square and the Arsenale or near the Ponte di Rialto on the Canal Grande; 1 year of participation to International Art Festivals organized by International ArtExpo and 1 week of luxury accommodation in an exclusive art residence in Turin (Italy).
