Interview: Agnieszka Hinc
Luca Curci talks with Agnieszka Hinc during CONSCIOUSNESS, second appointment of the ANIMA MUNDI 2022, at Palazzo Bembo – Venice Grand Canal.
Agnieszka Hinc is a photographer and visual artist based in Poland. Born in 1995 in Wągrowiec. She obtained a Master’s degree in Photography at the University of Arts in Poznań. In projects, she takes up subjects related to the body, humans, and space. Agnieszka is interested in the structure of the human body, its relationship with the surrounding space, and the transformation of human beings over time.
Luca Curci – What are you currently working on?
Agnieszka Hinc – Currently I’m working on site-specific work about the correlation between body and soul in a tangle of meanings.
LC – How did you get to your current artistic practice?
AH – I have been taking photos since my early teenage years. I started my studies at the Faculty of Chemistry but quickly realized that I wanted to work with photography and art on a daily basis. However, thanks to the knowledge in the field of chemistry and biology, many thoughts that I mention in my projects have developed. I graduated from the Photography Department of the University of Arts in Poznań, Poland. Thanks to the people I met there, I developed my perception of art and myself, which translates into my current artistic practice.
LC – How do you feel when you see your work completed?
AH – Then I feel a kind of excitement. Although I often have the feeling that something could be done differently, better or more.
LC – Where do you find your inspiration?
AH – My inspiration is the observation of nature, the complex structures of living organisms. Besides, the images of the future, the human body, but also my emotions, all fears, and obsessions.
LC – Are your artworks focused on a specific theme?
AH – Often yes. Usually, in my work, I deal with the problems of the human body, the future, the matter around us, and time.
LC – What do you think about the concept of this exhibition? How did it inspire you?
AH – I think it’s a great concept to expand the field of view of today’s world problems. It allows a philosophical approach to many aspects. It inspired me a lot because it touches on the topics I work with. Thanks to this, I feel like asking more questions in my next work.
LC – In which way the artwork presented in our exhibition is connected with the exhibition’s theme?
AH – My video work shows a humanoid digital figure trapped in an undefined space. It is a work focusing on the vision of tomorrow, asking questions about the future of man, but also how technological progress will translate into the condition of a person in the future.
LC – Do you think ITSLIQUID GROUP can represent an opportunity for artists?
AH – Yes, of course. This is a great opportunity for a new artistic experience for everyone.
LC – Did you enjoy cooperating with us?
AH – Yes, I’m so grateful that I could be a part of this exhibition.
LC – Would you suggest a collaboration with us? What do you think about our services?
AH – Yes, I would suggest working with you with other artists. It’s great that there are organizations like yours that help promote art.
