Interview: Alice Vesoti
Luca Curci
talks with Alice Vesoti during FUTURE LANDSCAPES, second appointment of the 19th edition of VENICE INTERNATIONAL ART FAIR 2024, at Palazzo Albrizzi-Capello.

Born in Trieste in 1994, the passion for drawing and painting led Alice Vesoti to graduate from the art institute of her city. After obtaining her diploma and, in parallel with her profession as a waitress, she developed curiosity and interest in the study of various doctrines such as:alchemy, theosophy, Buddhism and sacred geometry. By studying the symbolisms interconnected to them, the artist was able to perceive how the external world can only be a fraction of what we interpret as “Truth and Existence”. She therefore felt called to develop an expressive symbolic code which, channeled through meditative centering, could be the bearer of messages from her own Conscience.

Luca Curci – What’s your background? What is the experience that has influenced your work the most?
Alice Vesoti
– Surely there have been many experiences, but the most significant has been the curiosity for Life. It led me to the discovery and study of Hermetic science and Buddhism.

LC – How did you get to your current artistic practice?
AV –
It was a very alchemical process, of transformation. In the beginning, after understanding what and how to represent it, I built my works using only mental ability rather than instinct. In fact, when I was called upon to add or amend it instantly, I thought it was wrong. Currently I can define myself as more fluid, I let myself be carried away more by the moment and by my feeling to build a work.

LC – Is there an unrealised or unrealisable project, even a crazy one, that you would like to work on?
AV –
Yes, I would say that there is one. I would love to integrate colors into my style and artistic technique. In a way, I would like to integrate the figurative.

LC – What are the three hashtags essential to define your poetics that you could not give up?
AV –
The hashtags that accompany me and that describe my art well are: abstractart, visualart and geometryart.

LC – Where do you find your inspiration?
AV –
I take inspiration from life. Life understood as evolution and contemplation of the moment itself. For me, inspiration comes from pain, love, stillness, and observing the natural world.

LC – In which way the artwork presented in our exhibition is connected with the exhibition’s theme?
AV –
The theme “Future Landscapes” of the exhibition I found very similar to the message that I wanted to convey through the work on display, that is to bring back to today’s consciousness, unfortunately taken by the frenzy of everyday life, a further awareness of life and daily life.

LC – Can you explain something about the artworks you have in our exhibition?
AV –
The work I decided to bring is called “Infinity Paradox”. She is the first of my first collection entitled “The Feeling”. Infinity Paradox wants to bring to light the fact that Life is a paradox. Everywhere we turn, we can simultaneously find the two sides of the same coin: we could call them beautiful, ugly or black and white… The important thing is that in this multitude of events, you can find the center of yourself to be able to better navigate the storms of life.

LC – Did you enjoy cooperating with us?
AV –
Yes, I really enjoyed working with you, because you were able to broaden my global vision of art on a generic level, looking at the other works that people wanted to exhibit following the theme, but above all on a personal level. Answering these questions as well.

LC – What do you think about ITSLIQUID Platform?
AV –
I am of the opinion that the platform with which I collaborated, ITSLIQUID, is a great impetus for all artists. To get to know each other and confront each other, but above all to share and know how to build something beautiful and unique together.

Born in 1956 in the Paris region, I trained as a computer engineer and became interested in photography very early on. Rather than self-taught in this field, I practised a lot of black and white film which I developed and printed myself. Then around the age of 16, I got into photography and color film printing. I also had the opportunity to work on set photos for a feature film in the 1976s. Read more
