talks with Angeline (Geline) Payne during CONTEMPORARY VENICE 2019 at Palazzo Ca’ Zanardi.

Canadian West Coast Contemporary artist, Angeline (Geline) Payne has taken her art academics through the realms of multi-media, abstract, cubism and beautiful representation still life, landscapes and seascapes. In her world-wide studies, transcending ART in the fusion of color and light, ART has kept Geline connected with the spirit of the land and people. With a passion for painting and teaching in the arts of over 350 private students, Geline’s followings have taken her students into prestigious Canadian and USA universities and colleges with scholarships and art majors. For Geline, as a professional artist, ART is living the life – in ART and LIFE.

Luca Curci – What is art for you?
Angeline (Geline) Payne –
ART is my way of transcending on canvas the human spirit and spirit of our beautiful land, landscapes, seascapes and people together for a total experience in ART AND LIFE.

LC – What subject are you working on?
AP –
My subjects are ever changing with cultures and environments in the fusion of color and light experience through art .

LC – Where do you find your inspiration?
AP –
I am inspired by life energies of people and our earth’s beautiful natural surroundings. I am inspired by the international passions of people of all cultures. With over 350 students from ages 6-86, I am inspired by their unforetold capacity to absorb a creative spirit.

LC – Did your style change over the years? In What way?
AP –
My changes have been influenced through academic studies which have taken me thru the realms of style and techniques of still life art, figurative art. Seascapes, landscapes, cubism and abstract ART. My color pallet sensitivities have changed in harmony with my evolving creations…

LC – Do visitors’ suggestions enrich yourself and your art?
AP –
Yes. So to speak, I am so very much enriched by… the eye of the beholder. I have a great passion for the insightful perspectives of viewers on many different levels.

LC – We were attracted by your last artistic production, has the artwork presented been created for the festival or as a part of preexisting works?
AP –
The cubism works of art at the Palazzo Ca’ Zanardi Festiva were works of art honorably selected by ITSLIQUID for the festival. They were pre-existing private collection works of art.

LC – What is the message linked to the artwork you have shown in this exhibition? How is it connected to the theme of the entire festival?
AP –
My cubism works of art were selected by ITSLIQUID which were in harmony with the time and place of both the art show and beautiful heritage location of the festival at Palazzo Ca’ Zanardi.

LC – What do you think about the organization of our event?
AP –
Your outstanding organization of events was superb in honoring contemporary professional artists in a beautiful (belissimo) Venice location. Your dedicated work with extensive contributions to contemporary artists alongside the historical architecture of the Palace is truly a privilege and honor.

LC – Do you think ITSLIQUID GROUP can represent an opportunity for artists?
AP –
Yes very much so – hopefully with a goal for perspective buyers.

LC – Would you suggest a collaboration with us? What do you think about our services?
AP –
In collaboration with the artist, your services with video artist interviews are excellent. In my passion for the ARTS, I would like ITSLIQUID GROUP to help facilitate myself as an educator instructor/art seminars in Venice. With over 350 students who have won awards and scholarships into prestigious US and Canadian schools, I have a desire to continue contributions to the talents of many.

THE LANGUAGE OF FASHION

The exhibition The Language of Fashion at the Museum für Kunst und Gewerbe Hamburg (MK&G) sheds light on the significance of text for fashion products. The items on view are variously emblazoned with brand names or logos, political messages, typography or plays on words. All objects on display come from MK&G’s own fashion collection, including more than 35 items from the 19th century until today by established designers such as Walter Van Beirendonck, Coco Chanel, Jean-Charles de Castelbajac, Jean-Paul Gaultier, Tom Ford, Karl Lagerfeld, Martin Margiela and up-and-coming young designers such as Edda Gimnes and Flora Miranda Seierl. One is the basis for living, the other the enthusiasm and the passion for Venice. Until a few years ago the photos were taken mostly with a Rolleiflex TLR and developed in the darkroom, so black and white. During the last few years digitally with a Pentax K-1, now Sony A7iii and predominantly colorful. Long exposures are of particular interest at present and the peacefulness in these pictures. Living in Venice, the most beautiful city on this planet, always looking for pictures that carry the magic of Venice. Read more


INTERVIEW: SIMONA MUZZI

She has always lived in Bologna but considers herself a citizen of the world. Born in 1962, in 1990 she graduated in Architecture in Florence. He works as an architect. Photography and video artist, in January 2020 she exhibits for the first time unpublished works at Paratissima Bologna Art Fair NEEDS entitled "Incidenti", with which he made his debut for the first time in public. He has participated in several international Call for Entries and Contests with his own conceptual photography works. Before starting to take professional photography, she always photographed the reality that surrounded her. Read more
