Luca Curci
talks with Ben Koracevic during OUT OF BALANCE, second appointment of CANVAS International Art Fair at THE LINE Contemporary Art Space.

“I have never studied art before so I am not going to pretend to know the terminology to make my sales pitch sound fancy. I hit nails in a bit of wood and wrap string around them”.

Luca Curci – What is art for you?
Ben Koracevic –
Art is a universal language in which the works does all the talking.

LC – What are you currently working on?
BK –
I am just starting my largest piece to date which is a collective montage of the “Harry Potter” film series with the hope of exhibiting it at the Warner Brother Studio in London. The canvas measures 160cm x 110cm and should contain well over 50,000 nails, 3000 meters of string and take around 600 – 800 hours to complete.

LC – Which is the role the artist plays in the society? And the contemporary art?
BK –
Artists are simply people trying to be creative in their own way. Subjective and open to interpretation by society.

LC – What is your creative process like?
BK –
My creative process involves hitting nails in a piece of wood and wrapping string around them.

LC – Did your style change over the years? In which way?
BK –
I am only 18 months into my journey, so my style is still developing and in the experimental phase.

LC – What do you think about the concept of this festival? In which way did it inspire you?
BK –
I like the idea of people from across the world sharing ideas and trying to inspire the viewer through their creative ways.

LC – Do you think ITSLIQUID GROUP can represent an opportunity for artists?
BK –
Definitely. It is an opportunity for artists to display their work to an audience and gain exposure.

BK –
Yes. The people at the venue were very welcoming and friendly.

LC – Would you suggest a collaboration with us? What do you think about our services?
BK –
I think it is a difficult time for any exhibition to be successful right now but feel you are doing a great job with the current situation of COVID.
