Interiew: Cédric Brion
Luca Curci talks with Cédric Brion during THE BODY LANGUAGE 2022, at THE ROOM Contemporary Art Space.
My name is Cédric Brion. Freelance photographer artist, I was born in 1978 in Belgium, in the suburbs of Mons, the city where I currently live. As the visual arts have not always been of interest, I started to develop my taste for photography at 18. My first tool was a film camera, the pictures of which I developed in the darkness of my bedroom. This is how, after several years of research and experience, I managed to approach the world of professional photography, thanks to various competitions and works carried out for the economic world and thanks, of course, to my companion, Catherine, who pushed me to embark on the adventure and who believed in me.

Luca Curci – How did you get to photography? Do you remember why you took your first professional photo?
Cédric Brion – I did my studies in Plastic Arts where I had a few hours of photos during the week. I took my first pro architecture photo for the decoration of a “restaurant”.

LC – How important is the editing process in your work?
CB – I find it as much fun to take the shots as I do to retouch my photos in post-production
LC – Where do you find your inspiration?
CB – My inspiration comes from watching movies or photos.

LC – How is your creative process? And What is the most challenging part about creating your artworks? How is your creative process?
CB – It’s not very easy to find creative inspirations but it often comes down to feeling. I think the challenging part is finding the right light and decor.

LC – Do you agree with our vision of art and what do you think about the theme of the exhibition?
CB – Yes I think it’s a beautiful vision of body language, otherwise I wouldn’t have participated.

LC – Can you explain something about the artworks you have in our exhibition?
CB – Yes, I like that the photos are dark with beautiful lights and that people manage to project themselves into my photos.

LC – What is your idea about ITSLIQUID GROUP? Did you enjoy cooperating with us?
CB – Yes really, It’s a great opportunity for artists.
