Interview: David Phoenix
Luca Curci talks with David Phoenix during Venice International Art Fair 2020 at Palazzo Albrizzi-Capello.
David Phoenix, alias David Pacetta, doctor in clinical psychology with a specialisation in athletic psychology, was born from a dream, forever working with emotions.
“More than a job, this is my purpose. Sensing, understanding, expressing are the guidelines that have led me to what you will witness in my artwork. As per my personality, my art is a stylistic fusion of encounters and opportunities. Starting with puntinism and arriving to Action Painting and Pouring Painting, I have found my “colourful” way of expressing myself. Passion, a desire to live render my artwork my presentation card. Every single brush stroke, chromatic flexion, line of colour exploded on the canvas, is a part of me.”
Luca Curci – What is art for you?
David Phoenix – For me, art is the key, it opens unexpected doors while remaining shiny but in a fully ours reality, where time and space merge and there is only the moment, a beat, then everything seems more vibrant. Life is art, the best inspirer.
LC – What topic are you working on?
DP – From the beginning I asked myself the question of what my art should speak and the answer was that it should speak of life, of all of us, of the stars as of the thousands and thousands of lives that cross each other, of any species and nature until they merge into a single message of serenity, giving color and energy to everything that needs an extra smile.
LC – What is the most stimulating part of creating your works?
DP – Energy, definitely energy, looks like a flight to the sun, I feel the heat but I don’t burn, I only burn with life.
LC – Are your works focused on a specific theme?
DP – They are focused on every aspect I perceive. Every emotion, every stimulus that catches my attention is processed by my mind like a symphony, strong intense, therefore no, no specific theme.
LC – Has your style changed over the years? In which way?
DP – Let’s say that I started seriously from January of this year, and I can tell you that it changes rapidly, evolves, I can assure you that it is an always active furnace full of ideas and ideals being transformed. Maybe it’s changing while I’m writing these words to you.hahahah
LC – What do you think of the concept of this festival? How did it inspire you?
DP – I got informed and I noticed great professionalism and this I really like in living the passions, you have to be professional, efficient and always growing, merging increasingly innovative ideas and projects, art is also innovation for me.
LC – We were attracted to your latest artistic production, were the works of art presented created for the festival or as part of pre-existing works?
DP – Back then all the works were previous, very little actually, but I was happy that you enjoyed the works on display, they are my best message of this beautiful experience in a setting that is undoubtedly as unique as Venice.
LC – What do you think of the organization of our event?
DP – As said professionalism and passion, the right combination that wins, and in this case it is right to remember the thanks to all the staff. Really cool. Keep it up.
LC – Did you enjoy working with us?
DP – Well, I didn’t say “THANK YOU” to the previous question, hahahahah. Of course, it was a real pleasure.
LC – What are your suggestions on our services? Is there anything more we can offer to artists?
DP – I found myself very well on every guaranteed service. Excellent every decision.
