Luca Curci
talks with Evelina Agata during FUTURE LANDSCAPES, third appointment of BORDERS ART FAIR 2021, at Palazzo Albrizzi-Capello.

“I am fascinated by mother nature. The colours are fantastic. There is a range of colours known as “earthy tones”, these are greens and browns. Meanwhile, nature gives countless tones of all colours. And I love discovering these colours. An example is a work entitled “Gold Skies” which shows a cropped sunset sky. I didn’t use gold paint in this work. I used some unique colours that, when blended together, are perceived by the human eye as gold. On the other hand, in the work called “Lights” which shows the city at night, I mixed several different colours to get “black”. I am also fascinated by the fact that the nature that surrounds us is infinitely huge. The composition of the painting “Gold skies” is open because it shows the sky. And the sky cannot be shown completely on a canvas. In the case of the painting “Light”, I showed a city built by people, surrounded by wild nature. And I emphasized the border between what human has built and nature. What man builds is much smaller than what nature builds and that will never change”.

LUCA CURCI – Which subject are you working on?
EVELINA AGATA
– So far, the main subject of my work was sunset and twilight. I played with colour, frame and form. I treat it like a warm-up because I do not have a lot of experience. Now I finished working on this collection and I start working on completely different stuff.

LC – What are you currently working on?
EA
– At the moment, I am slowly moving away from landscapes. In my new project, I would like to show my ideas, more feelings. First of all, I would like to sensitize people to the needs of others.

LC – Did your style change over the years? In which way?
EA
– I think I’m at the stage of creating my own style. For me, it’s just the beginning. At this moment, I am looking for the best expression for my art. A few months ago, I started to paint landscapes, traditional art. I was afraid to express something more, but from day to day I have an increasing need to express my thoughts and emotions. I want to express my ideas through art.

LC – What is your creative process like?
EA
– I love to paint because it is relaxing. In the beginning, I always have an imagination of a given work. However, the end result never looks like this. I always surprise myself with something new and that is fantastic.

LC – What is the most challenging part about creating your artworks?
EA
– The art takes courage. And I am a shy person. However, I believe I can change it in myself.

LC – We were attracted by your last artistic production, has the artwork presented been created for the festival or as a part of preexisting works?
EA
– These works come from my landscapes collection of the sunset and twilight, which I worked on some time ago. They weren’t dedicated to the festival but seemed appropriate to the subject of this event.

LC – In which way the artwork presented in our exhibition is connected with the festival’s theme?
EA
– I am fascinated with nature, the landscape of the sunset, and the world saw after dusk. The border between day and night. The moment the world goes silent. This is a preview of the future, something new, maybe exciting, what you need to wait for. It is also a presentation of borders between nature and human activities.

LC – What is your idea about ITSLIQUID GROUP?
EA
– It’s great that there is a platform that works for contemporary art around the world. I hope that you will continue to successfully act and organize wonderful events.

LC – Would you suggest a collaboration with us? What do you think about our services?
EA
– Yes! The platform gives possibilities for artists around the world and encourages people to learn about art.
