Interview: Gloria Darshan
Luca Curci talks with Gloria Darshan during BODYSPACES, first appointment of CANVAS INTERNATIONAL ART FAIR, at Palazzo Albrizzi-Capello in Venice.

Gloria Darshan is a Polish artist specializing in acrylic painting. She is a lawyer and her passion is abstract painting. “I create abstract paintings based on strong colours. My intention is to stop the recipient’s eyesight and offer him a reflection on important matters of the present world. In my work, I ask questions on existential matters: what is the present man like, what he believes in, and whether he determines himself or is influenced by society or cosmic forces? At the same time, my art is joyful, because I believe that one of the most important goals of art is the pleasure of communing with it. Man has been looking for beauty in a natural way since the dawn of time, so I believe that the visual beauty of  paintings is their primary function.” – Gloria Darshan

Luca Curci – What’s your background? What is the experience that has influenced your work the most?
Gloria Darshan –
Man has always been looking for beauty around him and it is the desire to give beauty to another person that makes me create. I am looking for harmony in my life so that I can pass it on to others through art, to inspire them to look for harmony in themselves. I am a vegetarian for many years, I do yoga and meditate every day. Thanks to this, I feel good and I can convey this positive energy in art.

LC – What are your thoughts while you paint? Do you have any habits or rituals while you work?
GD –
I always paint when I’m in a good mood. I always try to convey good, positive energy in the image. Everything is energy, so I am sure that the viewer perceives, at least on a subconscious level, the energy emanating from the picture. When I paint, I try not to think, but to be in a state of flow, so that the painting is a spontaneous expression of intuition.

LC – How is your creative process?
GD –
I mostly paint in collections, so often the first idea comes to me for a collection of paintings, a specific color palette and the general nature of the collection appears in my head. However, individual images appear in the process of painting. I often have no idea of the picture before painting it, it arises spontaneously while I am painting.

LC – Which art themes do you pursue? What is your preferred subject, if there is any?
GD –
The most important thing for me is color when it comes to artistic means of expression and the joy of life, which is the most important thing in life. My paintings are joyful and full of expression and I would like them to always evoke optimism in the recipients, and remind them that we can be joyful and satisfied with life in all conditions because we ourselves decide about our attitude to life.

LC – What is the message linked to the artwork you have shown in this event? How is it connected to the theme of the entire exhibition?
GD –
My paintings presented at the exhibition -“Hope” and “Faith” make you look into your heart and believe in yourself, this is what we all need most because it can be the foundation for building a new world for all of us. Anyone who believes in themselves and realizes that they are the only one and has a mission to fulfil will change the whole world. Changes in ourselves change our world, the energy of change emanates from the inside of a person to the outside and is a force that allows the materialization of changes that first appear as a thought or idea.

LC – What do you think about the concept of this exhibition How did it inspire you?
GD –
The concept of the exhibition is classic and innovative at the same time. Art deals with the human body all the time, we are used to it and we expect it as viewers. At the same time, there is a huge spiritual development and we are more aware that our bodies serve us for transcendental processes, we want to “use” them as a tool to achieve higher states of consciousness.

LC – Would you suggest a collaboration with us? What do you think about our services?
GD –
Cooperation with you is very good and professional, I can highly recommend your services.

LC – What do you think about ITSLIQUID Platform?
GD –
This platform is very interesting, it gives the opportunity to present art to audiences from all over the world.

LC – Do you think ITSLIQUID GROUP can represent an opportunity for artists?
GD –
Yes, such art promotion is a great opportunity for artists.
