Interview: Inesa Antanauskiene
Luca Curci talks with Inesa Antanauskiene during OUT OF BALANCE, second appointment of CANVAS Art Fair 2020, at THE LINE Contemporary Art Space in London.

I am from Lithuania, currently I live and create in a nice city Klaipeda, Lithuania. I have loved art and lived surrounded by it since my very childhood. I attended the faculty of art at university, where I had been studying and creating for five years. Even if after finishing my studies I took a different path, art has always been close to me and has inspired me in all situations in life. Looking at life after some time has passed has made me realize that I want to create, that I simply cannot live without creating. And so this desire to create, paint, express the feelings and dreams of 20 years, was realized: “flew on the wings of birds”. I have always admired birds, especially cranes: their interrelationships, eloquent movements and dances that express their love and joy. When you look at cranes it seems that they have a soul close to human, that they feel, love, rejoice and grieve as we do, and they know what loyalty, friendship and honor mean. Each of my paintings conveys an inner melody, tell it’s own story, sends a message to everyone, it just has to be felt, heard. Then the birds, which became the ambassadors of my soul and feelings, will find the way to other’s hearts.

Luca Curci – What is art for you?
Inesa Antanauskiene –
Art is a very important part of my life, a way to express my views and feelings, it feeds my soul and allows seeing the world through the colors and shapes.

LC – What are you currently working on?
IA –
I am really grateful to be able to work and display my art in these extraordinary times and I am really happy to be involved in various charity projects where I can donate my work to charity auctions and help those in need.

LC – Which is the role the artist plays in the society? And the contemporary art?
IA –
In my opinion, an artist is not just the one creating and exposing ideas. The most important part is to spread and share the novelty ideas among people touching their hearts, wakening the strength in people to do good and push the humble feelings to those who are in doubt.

LC – What is your creative process like?
IA –
My daily life inspire me by exposing feelings, desires and the need for aesthetics in everything around me, which in turn I express in my paintings by using the tools I love and as a means of expression I use birds – in particular – Crane Birds.

LC – Did your style change over the years? In which way?
IA –
Some creative experiments and quests do come to me from time to time as this is usual for every artist looking for new ways to express himself and that really brings some divergences in style but I remain focused and faithful to one style I chose. I use my experiments to strengthen and improve my style, not to change it.

LC – What do you think about the concept of this festival? In which way did it inspire you?
IA –
Current situation has created imbalances in a modern world, in our everyday life, thus your festival ”OUT OF BALANCE” idea is a great reflection of current trends and inspires to use that in paintings

LC – In which way the artwork presented in our exhibition is connected with the festival’s theme?
IA –
”Persuasion”, which is currently on display in the exhibition, was created based on very dynamic and expressive moods that were caused by the feelings felt during that period.

LC – Did you enjoy cooperating with us?
IA –
I am indeed very happy having a chance to work with you and to have my art on show in various projects you have.

LC – Do you think ITSLIQUID GROUP can represent an opportunity for artists?
IA –
What you do and your activities are very important in today’s society. You have created an opportunity for the artists like me to be visible and be explored where an artist has a chance to fully unfold their individual views, temper and in turn this gives a desire to create more.

LC – Would you suggest a collaboration with us? What do you think about our services?
IA –
Yes, I would. Based on your manager’s ability to work fast and efficiently in the light of pressure and your team dedication in getting the job done I would be happy to spread the good word about you.
