Luca Curci – How did you get to your current artistic practice?
Judith Paone –
I was born into a family of artists: my grandfather painted, my mother painted, and I have been painting since I was a child. I went to art school and applied myself in different areas: painting, clay and plaster sculpture, macramé, glass etching, glass modelling, glass and silk painting, jute work, murals, etc…

LC – What are your thoughts while you paint? Do you have any habits or rituals while you work?
JP –
When I paint, I listen to that music that my soul requires and I enter a world of my own, where I can dream and where my thoughts can range. I enter a very intimate world between me, my heart and my soul: it is like mediation and therapy, which gives me serenity, harmony and new vital energy. Painting becomes an intimate and silent refuge, sheltering from this hectic and noisy world.

LC – Do visitors’ suggestions enrich yourself and your art?
JP –
Yes: having a confrontation with the visitor is very enriching-it opens up new points of view for me to see my artwork in a different way.

LC – Did your style change over the years? In which way?
JP –
My style has changed: initially I was very focused on technical perfection to achieve a realistic or almost hyper-realistic result. Now, however, my paintings have very different techniques, depending on the theme I paint.

LC – Which art themes do you pursue? What is your preferred subject, if there is any?
JP –
I deal with many artistic themes: from nature to social themes, themes on animals, landscapes, human figures, environmental themes, denunciation themes to save the planet, themes against war, immigration, pandemic, etc… The subjects painted are inspired by the stages of my life.

LC – Do you agree with our vision of art and what do you think about the theme of the exhibition?
JP –
I agree with your vision of art giving us the opportunity to network internationally. The theme of the exhibition was interesting and an important theme in life because everything is connected. There was also great freedom of expression.

LC – Can you explain something about the artworks you have in our exhibition?
JP –
I brought a painting entitled the soul of water. Water, the source of life, is represented in its 3 states: liquid, solid and vaporous.
‘Water is the connection of everything, including the 4 elements, also incorporating fire and ice as the union of opposites. Water nourishes, purifies, refreshes cleanses: it is wholeness because it contains all opposites:
strength and gentleness
the hardness and the softness
the solidity and the fluidity
the infinitely large and the infinitely small
the macrocosm and the microcosm
the noise and the silence
the agitation and the calm
the finite and the infinite
the opposing currents…
Water is the most important and complete thing that exists, we must respect it, appreciate it and use it carefully.

LC – Do you think ITSLIQUID GROUP can represent an opportunity for artists?
JP –
Absolutely! Because you give us artists the opportunity to join your great network of communication and you give us the opportunity to meet so many other artists from around the world: an interesting exchange, growth and new stimulation.

LC – What do you think about the organization of our event?
JP –
An excellent organization with so many artistic possibilities: from painting to sculpture to performance… to every art form and every painting you gave the right space and enhancement: congratulations!
