Luca Curci – What’s your background? What is the experience that has influenced your work the most?
Jue Hu –
I graduated from Xi’an Academy of Fine Arts in 2009, and established my personal art studio in Beijing Songzhuang later. I have held 7 solo exhibitions and several group exhibitions in France and China so far. I have lived in the countryside since I was a child. Compared with the city, the pace of life in the countryside was much slower, but the natural landscape was also richer which inspired my curiosity and imagination of nature and the world. Meanwhile, the vibe of the countryside was quite blocked, hence, painting at a very early stage had become the main channel for me to express my thoughts on the world.

LC – How did you get to your current artistic practice? Where do you find your inspiration?
JH – From elementary school to high school and then to college, I have always loved drawing, but the concept of art creation is not very clear. When I was about to graduate from college, I gradually realized that painting is my weapon, and I need it to communicate with the world, at the same time, I felt the limitations that brought by painting, so I began to explore the area of photography and experiment installation, hoping to get more inspirations and present my expressive intentions through diversified approaches.

LC – Which art themes do you pursue? What is your preferred subject, if there is any?
JH – The themes relate to social events and philosophy. Philosophy is my favourite subject, it often reminds me of thinking from different ways and angles.

LC- How do you feel when you see your work completed?
JH – When I watch my works, the biggest feeling is that no matter how accurately I want to express my thoughts, the feedback is still a sense of powerlessness. This sense of powerlessness is a common experience and feeling of all human beings. Just like this epidemic, the people are surrounded by a sense of powerlessness.

LC – What do you think about the concept of this exhibition? How did it inspire you?
JH – The exhibition gives artists the opportunity to display, and allows them to have a place where they can display and find empathy. It is like an all-encompassing container that allows more diverse cultures to have the opportunity to collide with each other. I have gone through many exhibitions, I have had many opportunities to examine my works as a bystander, and each time I can feel my own strengths and weaknesses, which means a lot to me.

LC – Do you agree with our vision of art and what do you think about the theme of the exhibition?
JH – Yes, definitely. Facing with the same issue, artists born and raised in different environments will have similar feelings. However, due to different cultural backgrounds, identities, and regions, each artist presents their works in different ways. Thanks to this exhibition for bringing these different directions, artists come together to explore the relationship between body and space. I personally feel deeply touched by the theme of this exhibition, because this is the question and direction I have been thinking about for a long time.

LC – Did you enjoy cooperating with us? What are your suggestions about our services? Is there something more we can provide to artists?
JH – Yes, sure. I hope to be provided more space and opportunities for artists from different cultural backgrounds to communicate and display so that we can be more closely linked with each other and contribute to the peace of the world.

LC – What is your idea about ITSLIQUID GROUP?
JH – It is a truly great organization and platform for artists from all over the world and it also enables me to engage my works with people from diversified backgrounds and regions and looking forward to sharing more of my upcoming works with ITSLIQUID GROUP in the near future.
