Interview: Katharina Gross

Luca Curci – What is the trigger that leads you to create?
Katharina Gross  – I have been a creative person for as long as I can remember. Artistic expression has always been a natural part of my life, and my studies in design and art further fueled this passion. As a digital artist, I am fascinated by the endless possibilities of new technologies. I create not only because I love it but because it gives me the freedom to explore, experiment, and push the boundaries of art and design. My goal is to merge timeless elegance with modern innovation, crafting pieces that are both visionary and bridge the gap between tradition and innovation.

LC – Which artists have somehow influenced your work?
KG  – With a background in design and over 10 years of experience in the high fashion industry, my work has been profoundly shaped by this world. The creativity, attention to detail, and innovation I’ve witnessed have influenced my artistic vision and I strive to integrate high fashion’s elegance and it’s power to define beauty into my art.

LC – Do you use art to express something in particular? Is it your medium of expression?
KG  –  Absolutely, my art is my medium of expression. It allows me to explore themes like identity, resilience, and the coexistence of tradition and innovation. Through my work, I aim to evoke emotions and provoke thoughts about how we perceive beauty and adapt to change in a world increasingly shaped by technology.

LC – How do you feel when you see your work completed?
KG  –  Seeing my work completed is incredibly fulfilling. It’s a mix of pride and introspection, as I know the journey it took to create each piece. It’s rewarding to see how my ideas and inspirations come to life, especially when viewers connect with them in ways I hadn’t anticipated.

LC – Are your artworks focused on a specific theme?
KG  –  Yes, my work often revolves around the fusion of high fashion, nature, and technology. I’m particularly drawn to exploring dualities-fragility and resilience, tradition and innovation, the tangible and the digital. These themes are at the core of my artistic practice.

LC – What do you think about the concept of this exhibition? How did it inspire you?
KG  –  I think the concept of this exhibition is incredible and resonates perfectly with my work. The exploration of identity, transformation, and cultural fluidity aligns seamlessly with the themes I address in my art. Exhibiting in Venice, a city that embodies elegance, history, and innovation, adds another layer of inspiration to the experience. Being part of such an international and creative setting is truly amazing and pushes me to continue experimenting and sharing my vision on a global stage.

LC – Your last artistic production attracted us. Has the artwork presented been created for the exhibition or as part of preexisting works?
KG  –  The pieces I have selected for this exhibition are part of my current annual catalogue of unique artworks. Each year, I curate a selection of pieces that are made available for purchase, with each being one of a kind.  “Seascape Symphony” was chosen for this exhibition because of its deep connection to Venice. Reflecting the city’s timeless elegance while serving as a gentle reminder to protect its delicate balance with nature and preserve its cultural legacy. “Parallel Poise”, on the other hand, captures the essence of our modern world, exploring the interplay of human creativity and technological progress. Together, these works perfectly complement the exhibition’s vision in my opinion. 

LC –  Do you think ITSLIQUID GROUP can represent an opportunity for artists?
KG  –  Absolutely. ITSLIQUID GROUP provides a great platform for artists to connect with a global audience and showcase their work in prestigious venues. 

LC –  Did you enjoy cooperating with us?
