Luca Curci – What is art for you?
Katja Lührs –
The artist’s soul becomes visible through art. When a painting fills me with light, enthusiasm, love, joy and confidence, it inspires my life at that moment with feelings of happiness. Art expresses the wealth of creativity that a person has. With art, you can immerse yourself in worlds that touch the senses. When I paint, there are no limits to my imagination and my great inspiration is nature in all its infinite variety. Hearing, marveling and feeling what I see in nature and later capturing it on canvas with oil paints fills me with great joy. My tip is: “Keep your love for nature, children and animals” because that is the most direct way to open yourself up to art. And if you can’t find the words in life: “Then paint a picture!”!

LC – How did you get to your current artistic practice?
KL –
In art and design in Munich and at the company TabeaKareen.

LC – Where do you find your inspiration?
KL –
My inspiration is nature and its diversity. The flowers, leaves and trees and the wildlife. By chance I found the motifs in nature that were important to me. As I jogged, I noticed the beautiful light glittering through the leaves, creating a blaze of color in the leaves. When I got home, I immediately sat down and drew sketches of my impressions. I always discover new things in nature and am amazed by its beauty. That’s why my motto for my oil paintings is: “Save the Earth.” Because the forests, moors, seas and floodplains need our help now. You make a contribution to climate protection and climate adaptation. Insects are essential for natural pollination and therefore for food production. We need natural recreational spaces because without nature there is no longer any life! We decide what the world will look like tomorrow and we should say to ourselves every day: “We are just guests on this beautiful, irreplaceable planet Earth!” So we should behave that way. Because everything that is against nature, against the animal world, will be directed against us if we don’t handle it carefully and carefully now.

LC – How do you feel when you see your work completed?
KL –
Very, very happy and satisfied. When I paint, I immediately think of new images and ideas and I always write them down straight away.

LC – Do you use art to express something in particular? Is it your medium of expression?
KL –
I want to capture the beauties of nature with my art and inspire people with it. When I’m in nature, I say to myself every day: “Hello Katja, isn’t life wonderful and I’m very grateful for it!” Gratitude is a wonderful feeling that you can acquire. Nothing can be taken for granted anymore. Going through life mindfully here and now with gratitude and love could be a great goal for every person.

LC- Did you enjoy cooperating with us?
KL –
I would like to thank the artists for the great questions and wonderful support. Here again from my side, even if we don’t know each other personally, a warm hug from a distance and thank you – Mercy – thank you!

Born in 1956 in the Paris region, I trained as a computer engineer and became interested in photography very early on. Rather than self-taught in this field, I practised a lot of black and white film which I developed and printed myself. Then around the age of 16, I got into photography and color film printing. I also had the opportunity to work on set photos for a feature film in the 1976s. Read more
