Interview: Lun Lun
Luca Curci talks with Lun Lun, one of the selected artists of VISIONS – CANVAS INTERNATIONAL ART FAIR 2023, held in Venice at Palazzo Albrizzi-Capello.

Lun Lun studied painting at an art school in Florence, Italy, and learned painting techniques from artists in each country while travelling around the world 5 times 60 countries. In 2022, she set up an atelier in her birthplace Awaji Island, Japan, and used it as a base for creative activities. She has presented her artworks at international art exhibitions in the United States, Italy, Spain, France and more, she also produced picture books using art in 5 languages and expanding them to the world. “Create art that will last for 100 years and touch people’s hearts worldwide!” It’s a miracle what can be completed in a moment, using materials from each country, and colourfully and dynamically drawing the inspiration that springs up from the heart while feeling the energy of each country.

LUCA CURCI – What is art for you?
LUN LUN – A tool to meet soulmates over the world. An opportunity for Spiritual Awakening.

LC – What are you currently working on?
LL –
Living a life of travelling to 60 countries around the world, I create artworks imbued with energy using natural materials such as seawater, wood, and leaves, as well as motifs from the local environment. I create colourful artworks with the concept of “Rainbow Vortex to the World” as my theme.

LC – What do you think about art on social media? Are they turning into the new showcases of contemporary art?
LL –
The necessary tool for people all around the world to communicate and get to know oneself or one’s artwork. In my opinion, social media is becoming a new showcase for contemporary art.

LC – What issues do you intend to deal with in the future?
LL –
As I come from Awaji Island, a spiritual island in Japan, I create artwork using materials from the local land. My goal is to make one representative artwork each month and showcase it to people worldwide.

LC – Where do you find your inspiration?
LL –
I travel to different countries around the world every day, experiencing the local art and energy, and feeling inspired on a daily basis.

LC – Do you agree with our vision of art and what do you think about the theme of the exhibition?
LL –
I agree, I think it’s a very unique attempt to be able to see artworks from artists all around the world at once.

LC – In which way the artwork presented in our exhibition is connected with the exhibition’s theme?
LL –
Tying in with the theme, “Canvas is the creatives’ common ground, on which they can express themselves,” I showcased an art piece that vividly expresses the swirling of the sea using seawater and plaster from Awaji Island, Japan, where I come from.

LC – What do you think about the organization of our event?
LL –
You guys hold exhibitions in various locations, and I visited the venue in Venice. It was a wonderful venue, and the way the artworks were displayed was also fantastic.

LC – Would you suggest a collaboration with us? What do you think about our services?
LL –
Yes, I would like to continue to utilize it in the future.
