Interview: Lynn Creighton
Luca Curci
talks with Lynn Creighton during Fragmented Identities, 2nd appointment of BORDERS INTERNATIONAL ART FAIR 2021 at Palazzo Albrizzi-Capello in Venice.

I am a sculptor and a woman creating from a deep personal commitment to the awakening of feminine energy to all that it is designed to be. Believing in the potential of the clay to respond and excited by my journey into the mystery of what is, I have asked the clay to reveal the form of women in full celebration of their life force. As an artist, I have sought an expression of value for my life and to all of life worthy of the attention and the energy, I would give it. Awakening women to full awareness of themselves became my purpose and stimulated every action with the clay. I have asked the clay to reveal the forms that would excite women to rise to a higher vibration of their own realities. I have sought to discover the form in clay that would motivate women to move beyond limitations into a full celebration of themselves and life. This work, my work in clay, is the reward of my own life.

Luca Curci – Which subject are you working on?
Lynn Creighton –
I am currently working on a series: “Where is Love?” I have completed “Love Is Inside Me,” “Love Is All Around,” and “Love Is Everywhere.”

LC – How did you get to your current artistic practice?
LC –
When my children had grown to an age that no longer required my constant attention, I was able to pursue a love of work with clay that I had acquired at a very young age.

LC – Which art themes do you pursue? What is your preferred subject, if there is any?
LC –
My study of and participation in Native American transformational ceremonies awakened me to the need to understand love.

LC – What is your creative process like?
LC –
My creative excitement occurs as the clay takes shape in answer to my question. I use wooden paddles to encourage the clay to find its way to form.

LC –
I began as a potter but found sculpture to have a more sustaining interest as my ideas about life and love could be expressed.

LC –
I appreciate the intention of ITSLIQUID to widely distribute artists’ work.
