Luca Curci – Can you talk about your personal experience in Bogotá? What did you think about the whole organization of the event, the artists’ selection, the communication management and opening nights?

Malgorzata Basinska – The exhibition in BAC – Bogotá Arte Contemporaneo  is very prestigious and ambitious curatorial project. Selection of all participating artists has been made for exhibition, regarding the theme of ”PIXELS OF IDENTITIES – THE BODY LANGUAGE”.  Presented artists represent different artistic disciplins, as video, photo, performance. And all works refer to the exhibition’s theme in different and unique ways. Selected artists present high quality contemporary art qualities and add their unique contribution to Bogotá various and interesting contemporary art scene. Bogotá is resently named as one of the most exciting global cities for contemporary art and Colombia is experiencing a cultural renaissance nowdays. L. C. – Can you talk about the artwork you presented in Bogotá? How is it linked with the event’s theme?

M. B. – My work, that I am exhibiting in Bogotá, is digital photo titled ”THE BODY SPACE”. This photography was taken in Oslo, in a very chic city district Akker Brygge. This post-industrial district is constantly developing. The photo comes from shopping centre. In this abstract unrealistic composition it is possible to see captured mirrors, reflections of human beings and space, and all these elements are symbols for traces of human existence which create an atmosphere of busy city life. Post-industrial architecture adopted up to our time is giving interesting frame to Akker Brygge. And Akker Brygge is an indispensable source of inspiration for me. 20 million visitors comming every year and visiting Akker Brygge all are looking for something. Being determines consciousness” – Marx once said – ”THE BODY SPACE” in which we live is constantly need for space remains the same for millions of turists who are looking for new impressions, and expansion of their own unique space. This purely psycho-physical need is so difficult to satisfy if you are curious about the life. This work is about nature of psych-physical body of human being and it is how it refers to the exhibition’s theme.

L. C. – What are you currently working on?

M. B. – I have started my new web page: malgorzata-basinska.com and I try to find grants for to weeks creative workshop and touring exhibition.

L. C. – What is art for you?

M. B. –  Art is and always was very important source of inspiration and reflection for me. I am actively involved in creation process, using different disciplines in a free way, to express myself. Today I work mainly with photography, but I can use photography in printing technics as lithography. Art is very important source of reflection about life and our contemporary time of our life. Through perception of art and reality, the creative process opens opportunity to express on dyper levels unique life experiences and thoughts.

L. C. – What do you think about International ArtExpo and It’s LIQUID organizations? Do you think they can represent an opportunity for artists?

M.B. – You have developed high profile, and I wish you all success in the future. Your dynamic work concentrated on promoting contemporary art is an ambitious mission, which is so important for artists.
