Interview: Paolo Vignati
Luca Curci
talks with Paolo Vignati during VISIONS, third appointment of ANIMA MUNDI 2022, at Palazzo Albrizzi-Capello.

Born in Sant’Angelo Lodigiano south of Milan (Italy) in May 1976, I lived for years in San Colombano al Lambro and then moved to nearby Livraga, a small town in the Lower Lodigiano area surrounded by the countryside where I currently live and work. In these places, from a very young age, I embarked on a conscious artistic path developed both at the school level with the attendance of the art school (Liceo Artistico di Lodi) and in the following period with the first experiences in training internships regarding digital graphics. After a working interlude applying myself to different experiences, I replanted myself in the sector most congenial to me, namely that of art and its market, exhibiting in small exhibitions in the Milanese area. In fact, it is in this new creative context that I am trying to outline a new professional line. The Mission is to put as much as possible an infinite desire to search for shapes, colors and materials and with them all its most hidden varieties of expression. It is a continuous turning towards new communication methods such as the use of graphic signs with pastel where previously there was a brushstroke or the use of energetic strokes of color with a palette knife, creating the signs as constructive elements of the picture itself. It is therefore evident that we try and try without seeming too extreme, dosing every available element with aesthetic taste and the search for clearly distinguishable effects that can be glimpsed above all in my figurative works without any doubt influenced by my experiences of the training period is no coincidence. graphics. I therefore always have an eye on the past but also on the future; important concept for me to work in harmony with everything. I believe in the right contamination of experiences that give the possibility of being able to clear customs.

Luca Curci – Which subject are you working on?
Paolo Vignali –
I am currently working on different themes, various genres but always looking for a line ofrepresentation that always puts me in a position to experience.

LC – How did you get to your current artistic practice?
PV –
I come from an artistic school past and therefore all this has led me to work more and more and concretely in this sector also comes from there.

LC – Which is the role the artist plays in society? And contemporary art?
PV –
For me, the artist must be evaluated as an operator and author of creations. He must be able to give a high level visual and conceptual impact to his works by him. To him the task of suggesting to the user the ability to observe with regard the work which lives in parallel with the times and ways of society. I say this because we often think of art as something alien and foreign, then instead belatedly we discover its values and needs.

LC – Where do you find your inspiration?
PV –
One lives by one’s own light (so we all say) but in reality it is always contaminated by external values.

LC – What is the most challenging part about creating your artworks?
PV –
Usually more than half of the work because it is the moment in which the work must now be realized but also be similar to what you carry inside as a choice of work.

LC – Do you agree with our vision of art and what do you think about the theme of the exhibition?
PV –
It is especially important in our historical and artistic period to have the support of realities such as that offered by ITSLIQUID GROUP as it creates the ideal and orientative support for you to effectively disseminate your creations. The Anima Mundi exhibition in Venice divided into three dates denotes the ability to have created a multipurpose event unfolded on many types of expression.

LC – In which way the artwork presented in our exhibition is connected with the exhibition’s theme?
PV –
I in particular attended the date contextualized on Visions; my works filter and highlight the material aspects of reality that in my works are supported by a veiled energy in the “background”.

LC – What do you think about the organization of our event?
PV –
Excellent organization that comes from a lot of evident experience. Professional in all stages of the event setup.

LC – Would you suggest a collaboration with us? What do you think about our services?
PV –
Absolutely yes by virtue of my first personal experience. For example, in the shipping phase of the works, I had the maximum support.

LC – What are your suggestions about our services? Is there something more we can provide to artists?
PV –
I have no suggestions since my first experience but I trust the ITSLIQUID Team to continue as they have already done with their working methods that bring certain benefits.
