Interview: Synergy Group

Luca Curci talks with Synergy Group during VENICE INTERNATIONAL ART FAIR 2019 at Palazzo Ca’ Zanardi.

Synergy represents a group of phenomenal female artists from all over the world. They combine their love of the arts and culture and hold exhibitions together. Synergy artists are currently from Saudi Arabia, Bosnia, Indonesia, Mexico, Pakistan, Jordan, Kuwait, U.A.E., Egypt, Canada, USA, Russia and Kenya. The beauty and passion shared through their art expresses how we may have differences, but we can all learn and appreciate these differences. This influence of culture impacts our lives in different ways.  Synergy represents the beauty and challenges of living in Saudi Arabia. Their aim is to promote peace, understanding, cultural and religious tolerance in a multi-cultural world. They are wives, mothers, sisters, daughters and aunties, and they all share one thing; art. They all speak different languages and together, they do not have a common spoken language. However, they all speak art.  They all use different mediums of expression to create their individual art pieces. It is always very joyful every time they all come together and realize their dream of bringing people together through art. They have been exhibiting together since the year 2015. They have been featured in several events and they have even brought together several ambassadors from different nations. Their most recent exhibit was at World Art Dubai in April of 2019. It is their hope and prayer that they will continue to do so.

Luca Curci – Which subject are you working on?
Synergy Group – We have taken “material” as a subject. As a group, we are creating artwork using unusual materials.

LC – What are you currently working on?
SG – Synergy Group is currently working on an exhibition featuring nothing but Installation Art. This is new to us and we are quite excited.

LC – Where do you find your inspiration?
SG – Each artist is inspired differently. Generally speaking, Our inspiration comes from the woman, who is the pillar of society, culture and the environment we live in.

LC – Do visitor suggestions enrich yourself and your art?
SG – Visitor suggestions help us understand whether we are succeeding in doing what we set out to do and whether the art we have presented makes any difference in our world. Visitor suggestions also enrich our own perspective and push us to improve our art.

LC – Which is the role the artist plays in society? And the contemporary art?
SG – An artist can lead, follow, uplift or provoke with their artwork. An artist records history for future generations. An artist provides society with emotions, color and texture. An artist enhances a society’s sense of culture. The artist’s role is so versatile.

LC – What is the message linked to the artwork you have shown in this exhibition? How is it connected to the theme of the entire festival?
SG – The artwork shown in this exhibition is showing our individuals perceptions of body language. It displays the value we place on certain relationships and how we show it as individuals.

LC – We were attracted by your last artistic production. Has the artwork been created for the festival or as part of pre-existing works?
SG – The artwork was created specifically for the festival. We showed the needs and desires of humans and how we use costumes to enhance or to hide those needs.

LC – What do you think about the organization of our event?
SG – There was a lot of energy and colour brought about by all the visitors and lovers of art. It was simply fantastic!

LC – Would you suggest a collaboration with us?
SG – It would be amazing to have an outdoor Installation Art Exhibition with ITS LIQUID GROUP.

LC – What is your idea about ITS LIQUID GROUP?
SG – ITS LIQUID GROUP is making a huge impact in society through sharing visual art and performance art.
