Interview: Teresa Bellini
Luca Curci talks with Teresa Bellini during CANVAS 2022, at ITSLIQUID ART SPACE – Venice Grand Canal.
Born in Padua, Teresa studied Eastern languages at the Ca ‘Foscari University of Venice. Her passion for the East took her all the way to China, where she lived between the late 1980s and the early 1990s. Back in Italy, she worked in the translation industry for 20 years while raising her two children. Curious and passionate, Teresa loves music, reading, traveling, and participating in urban agriculture projects. However, her desire and need to paint have always been there, like a constant note playing in the background. Since 2018 she has attended painting classes with Nicoletta Furlan from Artemisia in Padua. During the 2020 lockdown, she experienced an intensely creative period that led her to consider painting as an essential part of her life. She organized her first solo exhibition in Padua in May 2021.

Luca Curci – What’s your background? What is the experience that has influenced your work the most?
Teresa Bellini – I’m graduated in Chinese. Start painting only 4 years ago and seriously (it’s my new job now) only 2 years ago (during lockdown). The experience that has influenced my work the most it’s “my life”. I’m 56, hade an intense life that now I’m translating in colors.

LC – Which subject are you working on?
TB – I’m basically an abstractist. I love also very much to copy famous paintings of the past (Klimt, Magritte, and Monet, so far)

LC – How is being an artist nowadays?
TB – I feel comfortable being an artist. Since I’m an emerging artist, I can not make any comparison with the past.
LC – Do visitors’ suggestions enrich yourself and your art?
TB – Yes, absolutely.

LC – Which art themes do you pursue? What is your preferred subject, if there is any?
TB – Abstract art. By mixing overlapping fields of colour on strongly material bases, I love creating emotional landscapes where immerge yourself and get lost.

LC – What do you think about the concept of this exhibition? How did it inspire you?
TB – Love it very much. I’m also very inspired by exposing in such a beautiful palace.
LC – Can you explain something about the artworks you have in our exhibition?
TB – There is in both a research of equilibrium in colours and materia. They both have a quite long story that inspired them.

LC – What are your suggestions about our services? Is there something more we can provide to artists?
TB – This is the first time I expose with Itsliquid group. No suggestions at the moment.
LC – Do you think ITSLIQUID GROUP can represent an opportunity for artists? And What is your idea about our organization?
TB – Yes I do. I think it’s a strong organization providing opportunities for artists.
