Interview: Tereza Ordyan
Luca Curci
talks with Tereza Ordyan during FUTURE LANDSCAPES, second appointment of the 19th edition of VENICE INTERNATIONAL ART FAIR 2024, at Palazzo Albrizzi-Capello.

Tereza Ordyan was born in 1982 in Yerevan, Armenia. From 1999-2004 she studied at the State Academy of Fine Arts of Armenia, Faculty of Design and Decorative-Applied Arts and was qualified as a painter-stylist. She has been painting on silk using the “Cold Batik” technique since her student years. She likes the imaginary world and transfers the invisible onto the visible plane in her artworks by putting the universe and nature through her creative prism. Flowing and intermingling sunny colours give an ethereal touch to her artworks.

Luca Curci- What’s your background? What is the experience that has influenced your work the most?
Tereza Ordyan-
There have not been artists in my family. The experience that influenced me the most is the contact with nature.

LC- Which subject are you working on?
Currently I work on mandalas.

LC- Did your style change over the years? In which way?
– Yes, my style changed greatly. In the initial period, I painted still life and landscapes, then I shifted to making compositions and floral mandalas.

LC- Which art themes do you pursue? What is your preferred subject, if there is any?
– Mainly mandalas and compositions.

LC- How is being an artist nowadays?
Nowadays artists have more opportunities than in the past thanks to Internet. It is much easier to showcase and spread the message.

LC- What do you think about the concept of this exhibition? How did it inspire you?
The theme of the exhibition is of great significance and it should remind us about the issues that we face nowadays regarding nature in order to prevent future calamities.

LC- What is the message linked to the artwork you have shown in this event? How is it connected to the theme of the entire exhibition?
– The displayed artwork is about the non-ending cycle of life, where nature plays a significant role. The theme of the exhibition is “Future Landscapes” which is closely connected with the environment that we live in, we ought to preserve nature for future generations.

LC- Did you enjoy cooperating with us?

LC- What is your idea about ITSLIQUID GROUP?
– ITSLIQUID GROUP does a good job by selecting important topics about today’s life.
