Luca Curci talks with Wonyoung Kim during the 16th Edition of VENICE INTERNATIONAL ART FAIR 2022, at Palazzo Bembo.

Born in Seoul in 1987. She started painting in 2012 and has been working on her full-fledged since 2020. She has a lot of interest in cosmic phenomena and the earth’s atmosphere and uses it as the subject of her paintings. Her fluid techniques and additional textures created by hand are her hallmarks. Winnie Kim wants to express her curiosity about the invisible area based on the visible area and named it ‘My Microcosm‘. She regarded the countless waveforms and curves in the picture were similar to human life.

Luca Curci – What is art to you?
Wonyoung Kim – To me, art is an act of expression that answers questions that arise between reality and ideals.

LC – How did you get to your current artistic practice?
WK – I haven’t been able to draw for quite a long period of time due to my work life. However, about two years ago, there was a constant call from within me, and to answer it, I began to paint again.

WK –
I have a lot of interest in the global environment, and I tried to abstractly express my thoughts and inner images about the melting of the Arctic ice recently.

LC – Do you think ITSLIQUID GROUP can represent an opportunity for artists?
WK –
I think it is a very good opportunity to provide quality opportunities to artists who need exhibitions.
