It’s LIQUID International Contest | First Edition 2012 – winners

It’s LIQUID Group is pleased to announce the WINNERS of the It’s LIQUID International Contest | First Edition 2012. The contest was born with the goal of promoting contemporary art, photography and design through all the divulgating tools that the communication platform It’s LIQUID has used for years (press release, mailing list with more than 80,000 subscribers, international contemporary art and design events realization).The contest, with a free theme, was divided into five categories: painting and drawing, sculpture and installation, photography, videoart and product design.

The Jury was formed by prestigious personalities of the contemporary art, architecture, design scene including: Luca Curci (Architect, Artist – Italy) as the Jury President | Yousef Aldeek (Founder of the Palestinian cinema arts association – Palestine) | Thierry Alet (Art Fair director – USA) | Fausta Bolettieri (Curator – Italy) | Fortunato D’amico (Landscape architect, Curator – Italy) | Elis Saint Juste Gluckstein (Landscape architect, Curator – Italy/Austria) | Aranka Israni (Visual Artist – USA/UAE) | Dodi Karim (Artist – UK/Giordania) | Abd A. Masoud (Gallerist – Austria) | Macu Moran (Editor of videoartworld – Spain) | Constantin Severin (Writer, Philosopher, Artist – Romania) | Michele Spinelli (Gallerist, Art Collector – Italy) | Stefano Tordiglione (Designer, Artist – Italy/Hong Kong).

The Jury selected 5 winners one for each category, and 15 honorable mentions, 3 for each category, selected following the criteria of quality of the work, originality, uniqueness. It’s LIQUID Group received more than 300 subscriptions from all over the world.

Patrizia Donà is a successor of the long family tradition originating from the island of Murano, Venice. During her childhood, she used to spend many summers in a family manufacture, helping putting together crystal parts of Venetian chandeliers, whose production is a unique and unsurpassed process. I am looking for abstract compositions in my surroundings to capture them photographically. The objects and situations are neither changed, arranged nor manually illuminated, nor are they subsequently edited on the computer, even the detail is identical to the shot. All pictures are 'Pure Photography'. I see my surroundings as a 'natural exhibition space'. I find works of art on the pavement, on building walls, in the water and in factory buildings. These works of art are fixations of the moment and therefore difficult to reproduce. A different angle of view, a changed incidence of light, and the colours, bizarrely changed forms have disappeared. Read more

Brought up in a family of creatives she was surrounded by art, fashion, architecture and alternative music as she developed her passion for form and material exploration. During her formative years she spent most of her spare time absorbing the curiosities of her native Russia attending various galleries, exhibits and watching classic and progressive films.
