Jacco Maris Design – Maximum Light Features using Minimum Materials

Making something from nothing and creating optimum designs from minimal amounts of materials. This is the inspiring basic concept that underlies the creation, since 1994, of the exceptional light features of Jacco Maris. These are unique objects that combine powerful and exciting looks with graceful harmony and subtle elegance. Each item is individually handcrafted and skilfully produced at our own studio in Breda, the Netherlands.
The unique light features of Jacco Maris add something more. Thanks to their unusual design – whether suspended from the ceiling or walls, or standing on the floor or on a table – they endow a room’s furnishings with additional allure.

One thing led to another, but most of his designs are still based on the bending of a metal strip. Steel strip, the material from which most of the light fittings are made, is therefore Jacco Maris’s most important trademark. Stainless steel, black steel and brass are also distinctive elements that are used on their own or in combination. In this way, over the years, ten remarkable lighting collections have been developed, each with its own recognisable character.

Many of these collections were created in intensive cooperation with Ben Quaedvlieg who, like Jacco Maris, studied industrial design in Eindhoven. The two designers complement each other perfectly during the design process. This interaction results in striking and decorative light features that are appreciated in many countries, from Portugal to Russia and from Dubai to Saudi Arabia. And of course, interior architects in the Netherlands and Belgium can find their way to the Breda showroom and workshop virtually with their eyes closed.

Jacco Maris Design does not restrict itself to producing its own standard collections. It goes without saying that clients sometimes have very specific wishes with regard to lighting. These wishes can be catered for to the finest detail so the team can modify existing models on request.
