Jen Black’s Art Bar

Jen Black is an artist, designer, feminist and founder of Art Bar, 100% natural soap and limited edition art prints. Jen was a creative director and designer for international brands since 1996. She established JEN BLACK Brand in 2018 after a decision to live and create with intention in alignment with her values. She is originally from New York and lived in London for some time before making Berlin her home in 2008.

The Art Bar mission is to make art habitual, accessible and collectible. To encourage self-care, empowerment and body-positive in women by providing a nourishing soap bar that is climate-conscious from top to bottom. Organic soap contains natural ingredients such as plant-derived base oils, glycerin, and essential oils that rejuvenate the skin. There are no chemicals, preservatives or toxins. These soaps are vegan and cruelty-free. Industrial, non-organic soaps are detergents that are made up of harsh substances and lathering agents. Since organic soaps contain natural ingredients, they not only work to cleanse the skin, but also have healing properties that can greatly contribute to the treatment of eczema, acne and other conditions.

Jen Black creates provocative art prints and editions that examine society and encourage the audience to think critically. Most themes regard the female experience, relationships, dark humour and politics. She invented the Art Bar to provide healthy, natural, vegan soap as an alternative to chemical products that harm the skin and climate. Bar soap also replaces plastic products and the need for multiple cosmetics. These bars are uniquely paired with small limited art prints.

All of the environmentally friendly products are recycled and / or recyclable. Art Bar‘s organic, raw ingredients and recycled materials make them environmentally safer than industrial detergents made with chemical preservatives and toxins. Europe is expected to emerge as the fastest growing organic soap market over the course of the forecast period, registering a CAGR of 8.7% from 2019 to 2025 (source: Grand View Research). Manufacturers are launching new products that are organic, herbal, cruelty-free and chemical-free in order to cater to evolving customer demands.

The art prints currently paired with art bars are created by Jen Black, but soon there will be new female artists taking part in special editions. The aim is to build a community that will support and inspire women artists, and spread their work far and wide. Each art print is hand-signed, and numbered and will be printed in small runs (i.e. 100 prints). This means customers can keep collecting new art with each refreshed run / soap bar. They can look forward to new pieces and editions. The size of the prints is economical for collecting without clutter.
