Rooftops of Dubai by Karim Nafatni

Karim Nafatni is a photography enthusiast and an architecture fan. Being an airline pilot he loves to watch the amazing architecture that Dubai has from high above, this got him quickly addicted to rooftop photography where he gets on the skyscraper rooftops, sometimes over 400m above ground to shoot highways and amazing buildings.

As the top of the biggest buildings in the world is not high enough for him, he carries his camera with him during work to document his daily routine in “his office” and he also shoots from his flight deck.

His works are outstanding and he shows great knowledge of color and composition. By escaping high above the busy city environment, Nafatni provides his viewers with a moment to reflect upon the complexity and inherent beauty of modern and innovative urban architecture.

    Art | May 17, 2024

As visitors enter Seeing Forest, they step into a mysterious, forested zone that exists both in the imagination and in Singapore. In this in-between space called the secondary forest - a threshold between old-growth or primary forest and developed areas, between urban and wild, invention and reality - artist Robert Zhao Renhui invites us to consider a complex web of human and non-human co-existence. Seeing Forest encourages visitors to explore the ways in which urban design can shape the natural world, and vice versa, resulting in a new ecosystem of migrant species that echoes the histories, trajectories and makeup of a city’s human population.
