Lara Atkinson’s Fashion Popsicles

Lara Atkinson, a graphic designer in Dubai, teamed up with a high-fashion department store to create these trendy fashion popsicles inspired by a selection of Spring/Summer 2013 collections.

Atkinson chose these specific designer collections based on their bold color palettes and graphics.

“This is a collaboration in progress with a high fashion department store in the U.A.E., inspired by the most iconic S/S 13 fashion collections and the summer popsicle fad.

After choosing popsicle shapes and colours that resemble the collections closely, we transformed what we saw into matching flavours to accessorise the fashion pack of Dubai throughout the hot summer months.

These popsicles would be available at various pop-up shops and popsicle vans parked in popular spots.”

THE LANGUAGE OF FASHION

The exhibition The Language of Fashion at the Museum für Kunst und Gewerbe Hamburg (MK&G) sheds light on the significance of text for fashion products. The items on view are variously emblazoned with brand names or logos, political messages, typography or plays on words. All objects on display come from MK&G’s own fashion collection, including more than 35 items from the 19th century until today by established designers such as Walter Van Beirendonck, Coco Chanel, Jean-Charles de Castelbajac, Jean-Paul Gaultier, Tom Ford, Karl Lagerfeld, Martin Margiela and up-and-coming young designers such as Edda Gimnes and Flora Miranda Seierl.
