LARO: Reimagining Oral Care as a Daily Ritual

Founded by London-based entrepreneur Beth Bisley, Laro was born from the desire to bring care, design, and consciousness into something we do every day – brushing our teeth. With an early career in banking, law, and later consulting, Bisley developed a fascination with systems – how structures, routines, and choices shape behaviour. Over time, this analytical approach merged with a creative instinct and love of design, leading her to question why oral care – one of our most universal rituals – remained overlooked. “Everything about it felt clinical and disconnected,” she recalls. “It didn’t reflect the sophistication or awareness we’ve seen transform beauty and wellness.”

Laro emerged from that realisation: that oral care deserved the same thoughtfulness, efficacy, and aesthetic sensibility as skincare. Its formulations are made in small batches in the UK, crafted from natural, fluoride-free ingredients that respect the mouth’s delicate microbiome. Instead of fluoride, Laro uses hydroxyapatite, a biomimetic mineral that rebuilds enamel naturally, offering the same protective benefits without potential irritation or ecological harm. The result is effective, gentle, and aligned with the growing movement toward cleaner, microbiome-friendly beauty.

The decision to go fluoride-free was philosophical as much as scientific. A rising body of research links the oral microbiome to systemic wellbeing – influencing digestion, inflammation, and even cognitive function. “For decades, oral care has been built on the idea of sterilisation,” Bisley explains. “But health begins with balance, not eradication. We’re learning that good bacteria are not enemies but allies – essential to both oral and overall vitality.” In this sense, Laro’s mission is to restore equilibrium – to design products that support rather than strip away.

Design, too, plays a central role. Each element – from recyclable aluminium tubes and glass bottles to understated flavour profiles – reflects a quiet-luxury sensibility and a slower rhythm of self-care. Laro’s minimalist aesthetic has captured the attention of concept stores and luxury hotels seeking sustainable, sensorial alternatives – proof that oral care can be as beautiful as it is effective.

Looking ahead, Laro continues to challenge convention. Innovations are in development for 2026, including a toothpaste formulated specifically for women, harnessing biotech-derived ingredients that respond to hormonal changes across life stages, and a children’s toothpaste designed to nurture healthy habits and the oral microbiome from an early age. Each product continues Laro’s pursuit of function rooted in feeling – where science, design, and human experience intertwine.

Ultimately, Laro stands at the intersection of science, design, and sustainability, inviting a re-evaluation of what daily care can be. In an industry long defined by function over feeling, Laro brings something rare – a sense of poetry to the practical, and a quiet revolution to the bathroom shelf.
